  • Stand in a natural posture or sit comfortably

Place the soles of your feet flat on the floor

    Breathe naturally & do nothing

Think of an incident that made you angry: stay with the anger

You’re feeling angry. Angry thoughts flow through your mind. Let them flow without restriction

Shift all attention to the soles of your feet

Slowly, move your toes; feel your shoes covering your feet, the texture of your socks, the curve of your arch & the heels of your feet against the back of your shoes. If you don’t have shoes on, feel the floor or carpet

Keep breathing naturally & focus on the soles of your feet until you feel calm

Practice until you can use it wherever you are & whenever an incident occurs that might otherwise lead to verbal or physical aggression

Once you’re calm, you can walk away with a smile on your face because you controlled your anger. Or, if you need to, you can respond with a calm & clear mind without verbal threats or physical aggression
