INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION SERVICE Leading Accreditors Since 1975 ® January 1, 2016 INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION SERVICE Transition to New Corporate Logos and Accreditation Symbols The International Accreditation Service (IAS) has updated its IAS corporate logo and the accreditation symbols that are used by conformity assessment bodies (CABs) to indi- cate their IAS accreditation. These changes are to enhance the visibility and recognition of IAS-accredited CABs at both the domestic and interna- tional levels. Clients that provide reports and certificates bearing the IAS accreditation symbol fully benefit from the recognition that IAS enjoys under the Mutual Recognition Arrangements of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation, the International Accreditation Forum and their regional counterparts. These changes also support IAS’s growth strategy to maintain market recognition and improve corporate branding. Logos and Symbols CABs must be aware of the differences between an accredi- tation body’s corporate logo and accreditation symbols. The IAS corporate logo is for exclusive use by IAS. The accredi- tation symbols, sometimes called marks, are for use by any IAS-accredited CAB. The following definitions are based on ISO/IEC 17011 (2014), Conformity assessment —General requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting confor- mity assessment bodies, further explains the differences: Accreditation body logo: For use by an accreditation body to identify itself Accreditation certificate: Formal document or set of doc- uments stating that accreditation has been granted for a defined scope Accreditation symbol: Issued by an accreditation body for use by accredited CABs to indicate their accredited status The key changes made to the new logo and symbol are the addition of a solid green (color code PMS 7729C) square behind the IAS letters and globe, including the removal of the color blue from both the logo and symbol. The accredi- tation symbol must be accompanied with a clear indication as to which activity (e.g., testing, calibration, inspection, product certification etc.) the CAB is accredited. Transition to New Accreditation Symbols by accredited CABs IAS-accredited CABs can begin using the updated accredi- tation symbols effective immediately. We realize that many of our clients may have the older IAS symbol on existing brochures, letterhead, reports, certificates, etc. or on web- sites that will take time to be used-up or changed. There- fore, IAS has established a two-year transition period for all accredited CABs (deadline January 1, 2018) to update their corporate materials, reports and certificate templates, etc. with the new IAS accreditation symbol. The use of the new accreditation symbol will be monitored during on-going IAS on-site assessments. The use of the IAS symbol is strongly encouraged for any conformity assessment body for conformity assessment ac- tivities that are within the IAS-approved scope of accred- itation. INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION SERVICETransition to New Corporate Logos and Accreditation Symbols

The International Accreditation Service (IAS) has updated

its IAS corporate logo and the accreditation symbols that

are used by conformity assessment bodies (CABs) to indi-

cate their IAS accreditation.

These changes are to enhance the visibility and recognition

of IAS-accredited CABs at both the domestic and interna-

tional levels. Clients that provide reports and certificates

bearing the IAS accreditation symbol fully benefit from the

recognition that IAS enjoys under the Mutual Recognition

Arrangements of the International Laboratory Accreditation

Cooperation, the International Accreditation Forum and

their regional counterparts. These changes also support

IAS’s growth strategy to maintain market recognition and

improve corporate branding.

Logos and SymbolsCABs must be aware of the differences between an accredi-

tation body’s corporate logo and accreditation symbols. The

IAS corporate logo is for exclusive use by IAS. The accredi-

tation symbols, sometimes called marks, are for use by any

IAS-accredited CAB. The following definitions are based on

ISO/IEC 17011 (2014), Conformity assessment —General requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting confor-mity assessment bodies, further explains the differences:

• Accreditation body logo: For use by an accreditation body

to identify itself

• Accreditation certificate: Formal document or set of doc-

uments stating that accreditation has been granted for

a defined scope

• Accreditation symbol: Issued by an accreditation body

for use by accredited CABs to indicate their accredited

status

The key changes made to the new logo and symbol are the

addition of a solid green (color code PMS 7729C) square

behind the IAS letters and globe, including the removal of

the color blue from both the logo and symbol. The accredi-

tation symbol must be accompanied with a clear indication

as to which activity (e.g., testing, calibration, inspection,

product certification etc.) the CAB is accredited.

Transition to New Accreditation Symbols by accredited CABsIAS-accredited CABs can begin using the updated accredi-

tation symbols effective immediately. We realize that many

of our clients may have the older IAS symbol on existing

brochures, letterhead, reports, certificates, etc. or on web-

sites that will take time to be used-up or changed. There-

fore, IAS has established a two-year transition period for

all accredited CABs (deadline January 1, 2018) to update

their corporate materials, reports and certificate templates,

etc. with the new IAS accreditation symbol.

The use of the new accreditation symbol will be monitored

during on-going IAS on-site assessments.

The use of the IAS symbol is strongly encouraged for any

conformity assessment body for conformity assessment ac-

tivities that are within the IAS-approved scope of accred-

itation. The new IAS logo and symbols are listed on the

following page.
