Modern Kitchen Design - San Gwann Combining contemporary design with unconventional accents makes for a modern yet warm and inviting kitchen.

The straight lines and smooth finishes associated with modern kitchens are definitely practical and a reflection of today’s busy lifestyle. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun by injecting your personality into the finer details!

Going for a vivid purple splash-back is a far cry from the more traditional alternatives available and gives the kitchen a distinct character while making the brilliant white cabinetry pop.

The Antarctic white worktops made from seamless 12mm Corian and simple stainless steel cabinethandles, all enhance the contemporary aura of this kitchen.

Modern Kitchen and Dining Area Design - Gharghur MaisonetteStripped to its bare essentials, this open plan kitchen and dining area has it all - storage and preparation space and both a casual and formal eating area.

Symmetry plays a leading role in this modern kitchen’s design. The row of eye-level, stainless steel appliances, the equal width cabinetry and the balanced lighting are the epitome of regularity and harmony.

The quartzite topped island, designed to be the hub for all culinary activity, offers ample space for food preparation, cooking and everyday eating. It ties in effortlessly with the overall linear feel of the kitchen and is in perfect proportion with the cabinetry.

A glass-topped table with an asterisk inspired base is the definitive centre piece in this home’s dining area. The table’s chairs and the kitchen’s counter stools bring the kitchen and the dining area together thanks to their design and matching colour.

Bespoke Fireplace Feature - San Gwann Nothing radiates originality as much as tailor-made furniture that’s both functional and beautifully made.

Apart from keeping the apartment warm on those cold winter evenings, the design of this gas-operated fireplace has transformed what was once empty space, into an eye-catching feature wall with additional storage, due to the custom made shelving beneath the fireplace.

Clad in wenge, the symmetry of this bespoke piece draws the eye and one’s interest, making it the focal point of the room.

It is an excellent example of how design and function can work together to create practical yet beautiful pieces of furniture.

Modern Industrial Open Plan - SiggiewiThe words “modern and “cosy” aren’t usually found in the same sentence but this open plan kicthen and living space effortlessly combines contemporary elements with soft accents.

A real feast for the eyes, this open plan kitchen and living area merges modern and industrial elements, creating a space that is cheery, homely and bursting with character. Raw finished steel, wood, glass, wool, plastic and stone come together to create a cocoon of comfort and warmth.

Set against a dark grey feature wall, the ornaments, accessories, upholstery, rugs and cushions blend beautifully in pops of red, grey, black, white and neutral tones, which are lit up by the targeted lighting found in the kitchen and living area’s soffit.

An avid collector, bespoke display units made from steel and wood with in-built halogen lighting, were designed to house the clients’ various collections, turning them into focal points alongside the other artwork on the walls.

Keith Zerafa R.I.DIPL.(DIST.)

Keith has always been passionate about design and it was this passion that influenced his decision to specialise in civil engineering at MCAST. However, his love for design and learning didn’t stop there.

After graduating as a draughtsman in 2007, Keith went on to work with some of Malta’s leading architecture firms and interior designers on a variety of large scale projects, ranging from commercial properties, private residences and hospitality establishments.

It was here that he developed a keen interest in construction techniques and services, landscaping, 3D visualisation and project management. Additionally, tradesmen, craftsmen and engineers spurred

Keith’s appreciation for interior design and it was during these rewarding years, that his evolution from draughtsman to interior designer began.

Keith successfully completed a diploma in Interior Design from Rhodec International in 2013 and today, he strikes a healthy balance between the roles of interior designer and draughtsman – roles which both complement and support each other. Motivated and intuitive, he is continually on the look-out for new materials and techniques which transform spaces into functional and innovative interiors.
