"FLÈCHE" ("Arrow")
Considering the importance and topicality of the international activity, the new tactics
and strategy of the international cooperation were developed in mid - 90s by the Academy
administration which was called "FLÈCHE" ("Arrow") Project.
The essence of the project presupposes advanced study of the French language (8 hours
per week) and teaching a great number of special courses in French, starting from the first
year. Other foreign languages students study are English and German.
The project has the intention of vocational training of Ukrainian and foreign students
from French-speaking countries.
The idea of using foreign languages as a teaching tool proved to be instrumental in the
following international projects:
The French-Ukrainian project at speciality "Industrial and Civil Engineering".
This project has existed since 1998. Its aim is professional training of French-
speaking Ukrainian citizens, as well as foreign students with secondary
education. The distinctive feature of the project is teaching French using up-to-
date communication methods and teaching most technical subjects in French
from the first year of study;
The English-Ukrainian project was created at the Faculty of Mechanics,
speciality “Applied Materials” in 2001 supported by the TEMPUS programme
grant in the amount of 500 000 Euro for 2005-2008;
In 2003 the work on the project “Creating the French branch in Architecture”
started. This project was financed by the EU in amount of 500 000 Euros over
3 years (2003-2006). The first group of students taught in French were enrolled
in 2005;
The first students taught in English at the speciality "International Economy"
were enrolled in 2005;
The grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France was received for
working out Master programme on “Industrial and Civil Engineering”
speciality together with Lyon Institute of Applied Sciences.
