Intel® vPro™ Technology Activation made Simple Site goes Live
A new website within the Intel IT Center is now live, helping IT get more value out of PCs
with Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors. The new site is based on the idea that to turn on or
activate Intel vPro technology manageability or security capabilities or usage model, IT
needs to decide on what usage model they want to implement and then what software is
required to make the usage model work.
With that goal in mind, the new 101 site features clear explanations and video animations of
the major Intel vPro technology usage models such as diagnosing and repairing PCs
remotely, updating or patching PCs with secure power-on, protecting laptops or accelerating
data encryption. www.intel.com/go/vpro101

Intel® Cloud Builders
Easing the Deployment of Cloud Infrastructure
When your organization is ready to deploy a cloud infrastructure, practical guidance on building clouds is vital. That's why Intel® Cloud Builders delivers hands-on information to ease your cloud deployment. Intel Cloud Builders clears the deployment path as it designs, tests, and builds cloud infrastructures using the products of leading ISVs.
The Clouds are Clearing
You have heard about the potential benefits of cloud computing. From industry analysts to
vendors and major industry players, buzz about cloud computing is everywhere. Intel Cloud
Builders cuts through the clouds of buzz and hype. This collaborative program provides
best practices and specific reference architectures on how to deploy, maintain, and support
a cloud infrastructure.
What is Intel Cloud Builders?
Intel Cloud Builders is Intel's ecosystem program whose primary objective is to make it
easier for companies to deploy and optimize clouds. It achieves this goal by publishing
proven guidance that IT pros can use right now. This guidance is found in detailed
reference architectures that take advantage of Intel platforms and technologies from Intel
Cloud Builders partners. This means that you can stand up a cloud faster, more efficiently,
and more securely than you could if you were to design and build it on your own.
Who is Involved in Intel Cloud Builders?
The Intel Cloud Builders website features a growing portfolio of industry-leading partners
including Microsoft*, Novell*, Citrix*, Red Hat*, VMware*, and others—all of whom are
collaborating with Intel to advance cloud technology and deliver reference architectures.
Cloud computing is an important transition and a paradigm shift in IT services delivery –
one that promises large gains in efficiency and flexibility at a time when demands on
data centers are growing exponentially. The tools, building blocks, and best practices for
cloud computing are evolving, and the challenges to deploying cloud solutions need to
be considered.
A Paradigm Shift
Rather than a revolution, cloud computing is an important transition, a paradigm shift in IT
services delivery – one that has broad impact and can present significant challenges. Cloud
computing represents a transformation in the design, development, and deployment of
next-generation technologies – based on flexible, pay-as-you-go business models that will
alter the future of computing from Mobile Platforms to the Data Center.
Cloud computing is being driven by explosive growth of Internet data and traffic as the
Internet matures and Internet-based services proliferate. By 2015, over 2.5 billion people 4with more than 10 billion devices will access the Internet – over 2x today's demand.
Intel's Role in Achieving the Cloud 2015 Vision
Intel's vision for cloud computing over the next five years centers on three themes which
are essential to help overcome key challenges and realize the full potential and value of
cloud computing solutions:
• Federated means communications, data, and services can move easily within and across
cloud computing infrastructures
• Automated means that cloud computing services and resources can be specified,
located, and securely provisioned with very little or zero human interaction
• Client Aware means that cloud-based applications are able to dynamically sense and
take advantage of the capabilities of the end point to optimize application delivery in a
secure fashion while enhancing the experience of the end user

~ Intel processor numbers are not a measure of performance. Processor numbers differentiate features within each processor family, not across different processor families. See http://www.intel.com/products/processor_number for details.
1 Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) requires the computer system to have an Intel® AMT-enabled chipset, network hardware and software, as well as connection with a power source and a corporate network connection. Setup requires configuration by the purchaser and may require scripting with the management console or further integration into existing security frameworks to enable certain functionality. It may also require modifications of implementation of new business processes. With regard to laptops, Intel AMT may not be available or certain capabilities may be limited over a host OS-based VPN or when connecting wirelessly, on battery power, sleeping, hibernating or powered off. For more information, see http://www.intel.com/technology/platform-technology/intel-amt/.
2 Intel® Anti-Theft Technology requires the computer system to have an Intel® AT-enabled chipset, BIOS, firmware release, software, and an Intel AT-capable Service Provider/ISV application and service subscription. The detection (triggers), response (actions), and recovery mechanisms only work after the Intel® AT functionality has been activated and configured. Certain functionality may not be offered by some ISVs or service providers and may not be available in all countries. Intel assumes no liability for lost or stolen data and/or systems or any other damages resulting thereof.
3 Intel® Virtualization Technology require a computer system with a processor, chipset, BIOS, enabling software and/or operating system, device drivers, and applications designed for these features. Performance will vary depending on your configuration. Contact your vendor for more information.
4 Sources: IDC “Server Workloads Forecast” 2009; and IDC “The Internet Reaches Late Adolescence” Dec 2009
5 64-bit computing on Intel® architecture requires a computer system with a processor, chipset, BIOS, operating system, device drivers, and applications enabled for Intel® 64 architecture. Processors will not operate (including 32-bit operation) without an Intel® 64 architecture-enabled BIOS. Performance will vary depending on your hardware and software configurations. Consult with your system vendor for more information.
6 Intel® Turbo Boost Technology requires a PC with a processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology capability. Intel Turbo Boost Technology performance varies depending on hardware, software, and overall system configuration. Check with your PC manufacturer on whether your system delivers Intel Turbo Boost Technology. See www.intel.com/technology/turboboost/ for more information.
7 Enabling Execute Disable Bit functionality requires a PC with a processor with Execute Disable Bit capability and a supporting operating system. Check with your PC manufacturer on whether your system delivers Execute Disable Bit functionality.
