Chronic Disease Most Preventable

According to the Institute of Medicine, Regarding the Treatment of Chronic Conditions,

“Behavioral and Social Interventions.…

Offer great promise to reduce disease morbidity and yet their potential to improve the public’s health has been Poorly Tapped.”

A large body of evidence suggests that cruciferous vegetables contain phyto-chemicals that may help reduce cancer risk.

Dithiolthiones and isothiocyanates (broccoli) seem to increase the activity of enzymes involved in detoxifying carcinogens.

Indoles appear to alter the metabolism of hormones in ways that may help prevent or reduce the growth of hormone sensitive tumors. www.healthyeating.ucsd.edu

The Doctor of the Future will give no medicine, but interest his (her) patient in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.

What is Reiki

Reiki means Universal Life ForceUniversal (Rei)Life Force (Ki)Reiki is a high vibrational, spiritually guided

life force energy, which is healing in natureReiki is a special kind of life force that can be

channeled by someone that has been attuned to it by a Reiki Master

Hawayo Takata, the grandmother of Reiki refers to Reiki as “God Power”

History of Reiki

All ancient cultures have a tradition of healing based on laying of the hands

Oldest written accounts are traced to the Tibetan Lotus Sutras recorded 2,500 years ago by the Tibetan Monks

The hands on healing system known as “Reiki” was originally documented in Sanskrit

Jesus was most likely aware of the healing power of touch partly because of His Eastern influence

Reiki

A Reiki treatment is a powerful but gentle means of providing access to the unlimited light-filled energy inside of us and in our universe

It is a special way of directing high vibrational energy to restore balance, harmony, and healing into our lives, the lives of others, and our planet

Reiki is a special kind of life force energy that can be channeled by someone that has been attuned to it by a “Reiki Master”

Doctor Mikao Usui

Rediscovered in the Late 1800’sBorn in the mid 1800’s and died in 1926 Dean of a small

Christian University in Kyoto, JapanStudied world religions on a 28 year quest to rediscover

how the Buddha and Jesus healed through divine love.He was led to a pilgrimage on mount Juri Yama where he

fasted and meditated for 21 daysOn the 21st day he witnessed a brilliant light which he

knew was the key to receiving his healing powers. He lost consciousness and was attuned to the Reiki

Symbols and heard a voice say to him “These are the keys to healing; learn them, do not forget them, and do not let them be lost”

He appointed 16 Reiki Masters

Doctor Churjiro Hayashi

Wealthy well-educated man and a commander of the Imperial Navy of Japan

At 45 became fascinated with Dr. Usui’s work among the poor of Japan

At 47 after following Dr. Usui for 2 years, he was attuned as a Reiki Master and eventually was made Grand Master of the Reiki tradition

Founded the first Reiki Clinic in Tokyo, JapanDr. Hayashi formulated twelve traditional hand

positions for Reiki practitioners and three levels of training

Passed the complete Reiki teachings to his wife and Hawayo Takata and died in 1941

Hawayo Takata

Daughter of Japanese immigrants, born on the Island of Kauai, Hawaii on December 24th, 1900

A single parent of 2 small children when her young husband died and she then became ill

She received Reiki Treatments and was completely healedBecame a Reiki practitioner and then MasterShe lived until 80 and dedicated her whole life to being an

instrument of healing through ReikiShe was very religious Catholic and close to GodShe never took credit and insisted it was the healing power of

Reiki moving through her being and her hands Initiated 22 Reiki Masters before her death Considered Reiki a sacred gift and believed a Reiki Master must

be deeply dedicated to the ministry

Present

Since 1980 Reiki has spread rapidly all over the world

Johrei Reiki, which means White Light Reiki was formulated in the 1980’s by Jim Davis who was a traditional Usui Reiki Master

Teaches 35-40 hand positions and several diagnostic techniques

Four Levels First Degree, Second Degree, Third Degree or Expert and Master Level Training

Ideals of Reiki

Not a religionSpiritual in Nature

No dogma or beliefs to learn or use ReikiReiki practitioners are encouraged to mediate on the Five Universal Ideals or

Principles

I - Just for today, I will not be angry.

Anger at others or oneself or at the whole world, creates serious blockages in one's energy It is the most

complex inner enemy Reiki is an excellent tool to remove anger blockages which have accumulated in the body over years, but it cannot

remove the residue of current anger which occurs daily

Letting go of anger brings Piece into the Mind

II - Just for today, I will not worry.

While anger deals with past and present events, worry deals with future ones

Although worry is not always a negative phenomena, endless worries may fill one's head,

and each one bores a small hole in one's body and soul

While anger requires a focused Reiki treatment to remove obstacles, worry requires the energy to

be spread throughout the entire body Letting go of worry, brings healing into the body

III - Just for today, I will be grateful.

Be grateful from your heart inward. Inner intention is the

important element in this principle. Simple things as

thanks, forgiveness, smile, good

words, gratitude can improve others life and

make them happy. Being thankful brings Joy into the Spirit.

IV - Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

Support yourself and your family respectably, without

harming others. Earn a respectable living,

live a life of honor Working Honestly brings

Abundance into the Soul

V- Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

Honor your parents, honor your teachers, honor your

elders Being Kind brings

Love into the Will

The Characteristics of a Spiritual Being

Being here and now,

Connecting to Mother Earth.

Transcending or going beyond here & now

Connecting to our Higher Power.

Belonging

Nurturing and Loving Life

Being Free to be the “I Am” in Myself.

Healing

Healing is a process and not an event.Healing is possible.Dr. Robin Shapiro
