THEMATIC AREASGlobal Change

Monitoring and understanding change, anthropogenic and natural, and how this impacts coastal

and marine systems and human communities.

Living Resources and Food SecurityStudying and developing coastal and marine living resources which are, or can be, utilised as food sources, with the emphasis on sustainability.

Biodiversity and ConservationBroadly relating to understanding, protecting and

managing coastal and marine ecosystems, both for conservation and sustainable human use.

CMR wins the 2017 Nelson Mandela University Engagement Excellence Team Award

Engagement activities include short learning programmes, workshops, public talks, outreach events and interaction onmultiple levels with government departments. CMR hosts one of only two research diver training units in the country.
