use this service for those reasons only, but marketers can utilize this service in another

way, which is to help benefit their company. That is what we will be exploring in this

Well, currently Instagram has 300 million monthly active users! 70 million photos are

uploaded to Instagram a day. Instagram when used as a marketing tool, can help you

create a presence in your industry, expand your network of influence, draw in new

engaged followers and friends, and give recognition to your brand helping you achieve

greater results in your business.

The thing you want to keep in mind, is that the key to Instagram traffic is don't treat it

as just a photo album. Think of Instagram as a tool to help you give value to people who

you would like to potentially have as a customer. The focus of your time and efforts

should be on using Instagram to meet new people who can become your followers and

eventually your customers.

Another thing to note, is that even if you only sell other people's products as an affiliate

marketer, you will still benefit from branding. To stand out from all of the other

marketers cramming this space and since social media is going more visual, you need a

Getting Started with Instagram

Account name

When first starting out on Instagram, you want to choose an account name that's easily

tied to your business. Since you want potential customers to easily find you, then using

your company name works great.

Profile photo

Having a simple photo works best. You should use your brand's logo or a graphic

symbol, so that it will be instantly recognized as your company, which is good brand

recognition. Keep in mind, it will be cropped into a circle and appear as a 150 x 150

pixel image which shows up small on most phones.

If you don't have a logo already, then you can easily create your own logo or go to

fiverr.com and get one created for you.

TextThere are different caption lengths that work well for different audiences. Think about

the attention span of young people these days, so if you are targeting them, then less text

and more compelling visuals will work best.

You should however, try to test and learn by using various caption lengths for your

followers. Use hashtags to categorize your content and make it easier for non-followers

to discover you, so they can eventually become your followers. Its good to use up to

three hashtags that way it want detract from the simplicity of the post. Also make sure to

ask questions to engage people.

Commenting & likingTo get more engagement from your followers, you should play an active role within

your community. To do this, reply to comments and questions on your own posts and use

hashtags, location tags and Photos of You to discover and join the conversation on other

community members' posts about your brand, so that you have a chance to bring in new

followers that are interested in your niche.

Tagging

Get the most out of the imagery that you upload by including the location of your photo

or video, when it helps, tell the story of the image. Use the Add People feature to tag

accounts in your image if applicable, this will help you reach a broader audience. When

people have interest in your niche, they usually have followers of their own in your

niche, so tagging them will allow their users to see your uploaded content.

then edit your images and videos with filters and other creative tools like Layout thats

unexpected moments that also feel authentic and immediate. Whether your subject is a

person or an object, capture it in a context that gives a sense of your brand's identity or

point of view. Showing people interacting with your product or service is a good way to

increase product awareness along with brand identity.

Search & ExploreLook at others in your niche or industry to gain new creative ideas by using Search &

Explore on mobile or desktop to discover people, locations and posts that may be

relevant to your brand. You can also explore trending hashtags and top accounts to find

other brands in your niche, to gain insight on what works and what doesn't. Make sure to

see how many likes certain photos gets on your competitor's Instagram page and try to

duplicate the best ones with your own creativity.

Content Marketing

This method is free and should be utilized in your strategy, as you want to build your

brand awareness over time, to get more followers, with whom you can turn into paying

customers. It is this method that will allow you to gain more customers over time and

continue to market to them because of the photos that you share.

When you share well-crafted content that's on-brand and driven by a clear objective, it is

these businesses that tend to do best on Instagram. As a business owner or marketer, you

must tell your story through captivating images, videos and captions. This is how you

will capture, engage and get your viewer to take action, in this case, click through to our

website or affiliate site.

Content relevance through enhanced targeting

When people get on Instagram it is to follow their passions, from travel and fashion to

cars and entertainment. They want to see images and pictures of things that reflect what

they care about. As a business owner or affiliate for a product, you want to target your

message in more effective ways, by reaching people not just by their age, location and

gender, but based off the people (like celebs, musicians, athletes, etc.), places and things

they love. This helps with user engagement and long term follower activity.

Once you understand the demographics of your customers, then you will have an ability

Your competition's content

When you are on Instagram, you know there will be others in your niche as well vying

for new followers and potential customers, so you want to look at your competition to

see what they are doing. You can get inspiration from those that are in your niche. You

can also gain insight into some of the things you wouldn't want to do to market your

business on Instagram by looking at your competitors.

When you are spying on your competition, pay attention to the type of images that they

are sharing, to see if they have a particular style or method to their pictures. One thing to

look for is the company's colors within the photos. Notice the way that a company may

use it's color branding within photos to keep their branding consistent. You can take

ideas from theses companies and apply them to your business.

Look at the storyline they are trying to convey with their photos. Did the company stay

consistent with it's message or did it deviate and just post random photos? Would you be

able to recognize the company, just by looking at the photos they posted? When it comes

to effectively branding your company on this app, make sure you stay consistent with

your message, so that others can recognize your brand.

If you are an affiliate and not a business owner, then having photos that are very visual

and evoke an emotional response are the best photos to use, nice houses, cars, exotic

islands, good looking people smiling etc, tie in your products with the photos that you

upload. This will help bring in the right followers, the people who will eventually turn

into your customers, so make sure you keep it on topic because thats the reason they

started following you.

Since Facebook owns Instagram, they jut rolled out a new self service ads on Instagram

based on Facebook's self-service platform in order to buy and place ads on Instagram.

By using the Instagram ads platform, you can get user engagement instantly. The faster

you can get eyeballs on your content, the faster you can have buyers for your products

and services. That is what makes this platform so powerful. This is what Instagram has

noted about how beneficial it is to use their platform for marketing your products and

services.

Have a clear goal and creative concept

When you have compelling ads on Instagram with a strong concept, tied to a clear

objective, you have a better chance at getting the followers that you seek. Before you

start up your Instagram marketing campaign, make sure you have clear goals set. How

many followers are you looking to get? What is your budget? What demographic are

you targeting? What is going to be your storyline for your products and services? What

type of images are you going to use to convey your message? These are some of the

things to think about when starting out with your Instagram marketing campaign.

Distinguish your brand

When you are branding your companies look, you want to keep a strong brand

consistency across campaigns. You will achieve this by establishing connective elements

across your images and videos, such as an identifiable color palette that uses your brand

colors, a certain quality composition of your images or particular photographic style to

make your business instantly recognizable.

Take pride in your business and convey it through the pics you upload. Show customers

or models engaged with your product or service. Make sure they look happy or look like

they are enjoying your product. This will help your followers and potential customers
