F YOU KEEP UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS ON THEIR WILDLY POPULAR REALITY SHOWS, YOU MIGHT KNOW Scott Disick as Kourtney’s boozing, bad-boy baby daddy. Or maybe as her fiancé, if you believe the rumors that sprang to life in February. But at his MF cover shoot (especially when the ever-present cameras weren’t rolling), the 28-year-old New Yorker is shockingly cool. And he claims it’s no act. “I was making excuses for running around and drinking too much,” Disick says of his rage-filled past. The literal breaking point came last year when he bloodied his right hand after drunkenly punching his bathroom mirror. (Kourtney, Kim’s big sis, fled the scene with their son, Mason). “I realized on my way to the hospital to get surgery on my broken hand that this childish nonsense wasn’t the right path for me.”

“I’D RATHER BE DRESSED UP THAN DRESSED DOWN. I REALLY ENJOY TRYING TO LOOK AS GREAT AS I CAN ALL THE TIME. IT GIVES ME A SENSE OF CONFIDENCE.”

Contrary to reports that he sought help for addiction—“I never went to rehab,” he insists—Disick tackled his demons on his own. “Thank-fully I had a good support system of family and friends. For me, it meant taking a step back to take care of my life. And that’s where fitness came into play.”

Disick traded in hard liquor for hard work-outs. “Whether I was running on the beach or swimming a few laps in the pool, I started to feel better about myself,” he says. “After a few months of staying healthy, it got easier to see there was a better life out there, and I didn’t want to look back on the other one.”

One thing Disick hasn’t changed is his fashion sense. His personal style is as classic as the vintage Jaguar he drives around the streets of Manhattan. “I dress more mature than most,” he says, unapologetically. In fact, he seems unnerved by young America’s sartorial nonchalance and love of casual clothing (“it looks rather un-put together and childish”). Disick strives for a more “elegant” (yes, his word), confidence-boosting appearance. And much to the chagrin of a lot of his haters, he achieves it.

“There’s not much to say about a guy who walks into a room wearing a brand-new T-shirt,” he says, “but there’s definitely something to compliment about a guy who walks in with a beautiful collared shirt with French cuffs and a perfectly tailored sports coat.”

His favorite designer? Tom Ford. His favorite accessory? A toss-up between his tasseled loafers, retro Ray-Bans, and colorful neckties (he owns hundreds). And he’s even will-ing to share a few tips with the rest of us slugs. “Every guy

“IT’S A REALITY SHOW. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. BUT THERE ARE PARTS OF ME PEOPLE DON’T GET TO SEE.”

DO U C H E - L O R D. That’s what Khloe Kardashian once nicknamed the much-maligned man in her sister Kourtney’s life. But Scott Disick says he’s “a lot more human” than that annoying guy on your

flat-screen. “I’ve definitely had a couple of low points in my life,” he acknowledges. Of course, not everyone’s low points play out in front of millions of TV viewers. “I’m sure people think it’s the worst thing in the world to relive something like that over and over on TV, but I saw it as a blessing in disguise,” Disick says. He credits the birth of Mason, his 1-year-old, for his about-face. “I realized I didn’t want to wake up 10 years from now and have a son I didn’t know.”

So, the new father overhauled his fitness regimen and eating habits. His diet is now light on carbs and heavy on fish with brown rice and vegetables. He works out at least 45 minutes, three to four times a week, focusing on one or two muscle groups. Next to snowboarding, Scott’s favorite workout is spending time with his son. “I definitely get a good workout chasing after him,” he says.

Disick’s also revamping his business. “I’m working on the launch of a number of new health and nutrition products including my own tanning product called Monte Carlo Tan, as well as a line of supplements for men called Amidren,” he says.

should own a nice wristwatch,” he says. If you want to emulate Scott’s flawless,

meticulously styled mane, however, you’re on your own. It’s slicked back with his own formula, which he plans to market soon. You’ll be able to find it alongside his own skin-care products and fashion line—both of which he’s currently developing.

So whether you love him or (more likely) not, Scott Disick isn’t going away. Not even close. And that’s a reality.

As MF went to press in February, Scott and Kourtney (left) denied the rampant engage-ment rumors. “You’ll just have to wait and see,” Scott said.

Scott collects classic cars. His fave? “My gray Lamborghini.”
