I am Jason Turner and I am currently serving the
Saraland Area Chamber of Commerce as the Vice
President of Membership and Diplomats. I joined the
Chamber in 2016 shortly after becoming the Branch
Manager of the Regions Bank on Industrial Parkway.
I have had a wonderful experience since joining the
Chamber. Being new to the area, I found the Cham-
ber to be a great place to network and give back to
the community. I have served on the Membership
and Diplomat Committee for the last year and a half
and have enjoyed helping the Chamber membership
grow. I see a bright future for businesses here in the
Saraland area and I look forward to doing my part to
help local businesses continue to expand.
I have been married to my wife Challeil for 10 years and we have two
wonderful daughters. I attended The University of South Alabama where I
earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 2000. I began
my career in banking back in 1997 working as a part time teller for Regions
Bank. I left Regions in 2004 for another opportunity but was excited to re-
turned in 2015. I was recently promoted to Assistant Vice President and
the Branch Manager of the Hwy 43 Branch of Regions Bank here in Sara-
land. I look forward to continuing to work with the Saraland Area Chamber,
local businesses and the people in this community for years to come.

Jackie was invited to a luncheon by a friend in the senior care field and after attending knew that Saraland was
an area in which small business could thrive.
“We have several clients and caregivers that live in the Saraland area and I wanted to support the community
that has supported them for so many years. Every meeting and luncheon that I attend only serves to inspire me
to continue to grow our relationship in Saraland.” homecare COMPANIONS is a locally owned company that
provides non-medical services in the home to seniors and disabled adults in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
A native Mobilian, Jackie is a graduate of BC Rain High School and continued her education at Mississippi State
University with a focus in Communications. Living in Syracuse, New York and Omaha, NE, increased her aware-
ness of business trends and broadened her base of knowledge in respect to local cultural and socioeconomic
impacts on business. She also serves on the Board of the Connie Hudson Mobile Regional Senior Community Cen-
ter Foundation, is Vice President of the Career Women of Mobile and is a member of a local Mardi Gras organiza-
tion.

I am Julie Kerr owner of Get Floored AL LLC.
I have been a renovation designer focused on mul-
tifamily renovations working for large investment
and property management companies since 1998.
I started traveling back and forth from Nashville to
Mobile for several years overseeing a large pro-
ject. I found that I was very good at upgrading and
remodeling properties without spending a lot of
money. I permanently moved to Mobile after hurricane Ivan, since I had plenty of work to do re-
pairing the damaged done to my newly renovated properties.
My work was noticed by other property investors and I was asked to do other projects. I still do
design and project managing renovation in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.
I was hired to be part of “Quality Control” for RSA overseeing all the renovations of the Riverview
and Battle House Hotels. I had a wish that I could work with the architect who would restore the
Battle House. – And my wish came true! I loved being on the construction site.
In between design projects I worked with large construction companies doing their estimates and
project managing.
During all this time I had a mentor and flooring provider – Bruce McKittrick of LA Carpet Broker in
Mobile, AL. I had made many large purchases from him for years for the projects I was working
on.
A few years ago, Bruce asked me to come work for him at his store, which I hesitantly accepted, since I had not worked on the retail side of the business. I found I was good at helping people find the perfect material and help design their renovations and new construction projects. LA Carpet
broker unfortunately closed, and so my husband John Irvine and I decided to take a huge leap and open our own store. We spent months designing and renovating the store space. You must come see the store! We wanted to provide a large range of material and prices. We carry over
50 colors of granite and quartz counter tops which are displayed in the store along with a great cabinet line. Here is an example of the range of what our store can provide:
We have wire brushed oak wood
flooring starting $2.89 sf to the Somerset Collection made in Ten-nessee and Kentucky with all
American woods and custom stains that are one of a kind and will last forever. AND, of course
we have the newest – Ridge Core Water Proof and now Pet Proof Vinyl Planks – with amazing prices.
We are doing a backsplash wall just for
fun. We are just starting the collection.

In 2011, on Easter Sunday,
Wayne Sheppard began as lead
Pastor at Celeste Road Minis-
tries. The church was started in
1972 in the current location and
many of those first attenders
are still active members in the
church today.
In 2012, members voted unani-
mously to change the name
from Celeste Road Ministries to Destination Church. With a new
purpose, the members of Destination Church decided to reach out
to the community with a new
vision of “Don’t Just Dream
It, Live It.” Destination Church
believes everyone has a destiny
and the passion of the church is
helping others discover their
personal calling in life.
Over time Destination began
having three Sunday morning
worship experiences to accom-
modate their substantial growth. In the beginning of this year, the
church began construction of their new worship facility which will
seat 1200 people and give Destination more opportunity to reach
out to the community. The existing facilities will be converted to a
state of the art Children's and Student's facilities as well as multi
purpose buildings for outreach. We are so excited about what God
has allowed to happen at DC over the last few years and we can’t
wait to be able to help our community grow and thrive.
Congratulations to Bread of Life Books and Gifts, located at 231 Shelton Beach Rd. for being selected as our June Small Business of the Month. Bread of Life Books and Gifts is recognized for lead-ership among local businesses, outstanding customer service, and excellence in community support. Dr. Eva Reed, owner, provides the only Christian Book Store in the area, serves as an Ambassador for the chamber, and participates in many service activities. Visit the store Mon-day- Friday, 10am- 5pm for the perfect inspirational book or gift.

Jantrece Williams (Jan) recently accepted the Administrative As-
sistant position with the Saraland Area Chamber of Commerce.
Jan is a current student at the University of Mobile majoring in
Communications: Marketing & PR with a minor in History. Her
diverse work background has helped prepare her for this new role
with the City of Saraland. She is a 2016 Alumni of Marion Military
Institute, the oldest Military Junior college in the nation. There she
developed her skill set by assisting in the Business office, Finan-
cial Aid office, Alumni affairs, and pioneering her own organiza-
tion building campus comradery and a sports support group. Jan
did this all while serving as Cadet 1st Lieutenant in the campus
elite Headquarters’ Company that consisted of only 20 of the top
cadets on campus. Jan also participated in the Alabama House of
Representatives Page Program for two consecutive years, play-
ing her part in helping shape Alabama laws. Now that she’s here at the Saraland Area Chamber
of Commerce, with her outgoing personality, professionalism, critical and creative thinking, Jan
seems to be a great fit to continue to help the city grow. We are so excited to have her on our
team.
You may reach Jan by calling the chamber office at 251.675.4444 or email at [email protected].

Business After Hours Procedures
Hosting
Hosting a Business After (or before) Hours is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your busi-
ness. These events are extraordinary opportunities for our members, and potential members,
to get to know each other .We all would rather do
business with people that we know and respect. These events provide that
venue. As a host, your business will gain additional profile. Our hope is
providing these guidelines is to better understand how to get the most out of your Business Af-
ter Hours. This is a networking opportunity and we encourage attendees to have their business
card on hand. However, we do ask that you respect the business hosting the event and keep
distribution of your promotional material to a minimum.
Suggestions
-Know why you want to host this event and articulate that with the Chamber staff.
You might want to have as many people as possible at the
Business After Hours – or you might want to have a more targeted approach to getting a more
specific audience to the event.
-Business After Hours are often scheduled months in advance. The date is typical-
ly the 3rd Thursday of each month. If you need to change the day, the chances of conflicting
with other Chamber/community events increase dramatically. The Chamber tries not to sched-
ule anything on the evening of a Business After Hours but by moving the date, scheduling con-
flicts become more possible. The networking event’s typical hours are 5-7pm. The highest
attendance will be from 5:45-6:30. With a Business Before Hours, the typical time period is 7-
8:30. Business Before Hours is typically less attended. We do not have a calendar of Business
before Hours so any date selected can be approved through the Chamber staff.
-Recognize that people seek something to do with their hands. They also seek
commonalities through which they can begin a conversation. Serving food often gives folks that
option. We can provide you with a list of Chamber member
caterers. You want to make this an experience people can remember and talk about in a posi-
tive fashion later. The Chamber staff will work with you to determine an
approximate number of attendees.
-Do something memorable. It m ight be a tour of your facility, or a 5 -10 minute talk
about what you do or – provide an activity for the guests. (If you did the latter, make it no more
than 15 minutes).
-Provide door prizes – it doesn’t need to be many but some that might show off your prod-
uct line/service would be great. The real value of door prizes is you will have the business cards
of those that attended the event. You can send out a thank you note, email, etc. to those at-
tendees to make the evening more memorable.
-Have fun – people want to enjoy themselves. Have fun – try to make this
experience memorable. Try something new. To get a feel for how you want your Business Af-
ter (or before) Hours to be memorable, go to others through the course of the year to determine
what you liked or would change.

event, please contact the Saraland Chamber of Commerce by
