A Touch of Love ~ The Kitties of Zighy Need You

Two white and ginger love-bugs need a home. Tinker and Lil’ Sister are each 4 months old, neutered or spayed, vaccinated, litter-box trained and full of spunk and adoration. Weaned in the resort on camel’s milk from the young age of 2 weeks, they were treated in association with Sharjah Cat and Dog Shelter (SCADS) and have necessary and full certification.

Tinker (neutered male) is an expert fly-catcher; acrobatics and stealth are his expertise, as well as cuddling and purring on your lap. He will make an excellent companion in any house that is full of love, especially if you allow him access to a running tap as he seems to love jumping into an active sink or shower.

Lil’ Sister (spayed female) has a very calm disposition, and is particularly great around children. Also a great protector, she prefers to sleep close to your heart or at the top of the bed and has the perfect balance of independence and hugging spirit.

If you or anyone you know is able to adopt Tinker and/or Lil’ Sister, please contact us. We hope they soon find a happy and healthy home!

Marhaba, Tinker!

Marhaba, Lil’ Sister!

Sense on the Edge: Dining on top of the World

Honoured in 2012 from the Middle East Hotel Awards as Best Restaurant, the mountain-top restaurant Sense on the Edge will launch its Spring menu on 15th February. New offerings include poached oysters with cucumber and papaya, sun-dried tomato risotto and an extensive offering of international and intimate farm-raised cheese.

This menu is available for guests until mid-2013. Either a three-course à la carte menu is available at forty-five (45) Omani rial or delight in the seven-course Chef’s tasting menu at sixty-five (65) Omani rial from Chef de Cuisine James Knight Pacheco.

A gesture of Omani hospitality.

TRX®: Train Like an Elite Athlete

Most of us have tried our fair share of workout routines over the years, and many of us are still searching for the best fit. Sweeping the functional fitness movement is suspension training in the form of TRX®. Founder and ex-Navy Seal Randy Hetrickdeveloped the suspension training system in order to build functional strength, improve flexibility, balance and core stability simultaneously. Using a guest’s own bodyweight and an easy-to-assemble Trainer, guests maximize their exercise routine through a low center of gravity and neuromuscular responses (i.e. toning)!

Resident Fitness Instructor Daniel Serpa states that the, “celebrated success of TRX® is due to its ease of use and thoroughly integrated body workout. Stretching, muscle engagement, anaerobic exercise and body building are all possible through these techniques. Most importantly, your core is engaged all the time. Ultimately, that’s what guests want to target – and not just from an aesthetic point of view. Our core is important because it connects and controls our posture, digestive, circulatory and nervous systems.”

Guests can train with Daniel throughout their stay during private and group sessions, in addition to the 3, 5 and 7-day Sense of Functional Fitness Wellness Programme. A sixty-minutes training session is priced at forty (40) Omani rial.

International World Water Day is held annually on 22nd March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22nd

March 1993 as the first World Water Day (WWD). We celebrate our own sustainable access to fresh water with activities throughout the day, designed to give back to our fragile environment and raise awareness of the global clean water crisis.

100% of the revenue generated today from Six Senses water sales throughout the restaurants will be placed into our Social and Environment Responsibilities Fund (SERF), meant to target clean water initiatives throughout the Sultanate of Oman. This gesture graduates our standard practice of donating 50% of our water revenue.
