Company: PJ Pharmacy Year founded: 2014 Bishop Ranch Location: BR11

What is your business? I am opening an independent pharmacy, which will fill prescriptions, mix and make compounds for hormone replacement, dispense durable medical supplies & provide vaccinations.

When was your business founded? Becoming a pharmacist has been my goal since childhood. After many years as a pharmacist, I am very excited to open my own pharmacy this year.

What is your business approach/philosophy? I believe in going above and beyond expectations in order to provide superior customer service. Together, my staff and I will provide the best possible service and make a real difference in our community.

What is the biggest challenge in your work? It is a challenge to act as the intermediary between patients, medical professionals and insurance companies to get people the medication they need and provide the best possible services.

What is the best aspect of your work? Every day I go out of my way to help patients with their health care needs and do patient advocacy for all age groups.

Least favorite task: I love to do all the tasks, even the challenging ones, so that I can be the most effective provider, with a solution for every patient concern.

Sources of inspiration: My family has been my primary source of inspiration, especially my Mom who taught me to work hard and to choose to work in a field I am passionate about.

What makes you excel? I gained experience working many years at Long’s Drug Store, where I started as an intern and advanced to become a pharmacy manager. Later, I taught other pharmacists and staff how to be positive and effective even in stressful situations.

How would you advise young professionals? Follow your dreams to become a productive member of society; someone who makes a difference. If you want to be a pharmacist, be prepared to work very hard at school and at work. One must be passionate to be successful and happy in this field.

Is there a goal you still want to achieve? I would like to learn and grow in areas where I do not have experience and to continue to improve and gain further experience in patient care. I would like to share my experience with young professionals in this field.

What is your favorite pastime? I like many sports including soccer and hiking. I have a positive attitude and enjoy whatever I do.

How do you handle stress? I handle stress excellently. As an experienced pharmacist, I have mastered the art of multi-tasking, leading as pharmacy manager and promoting teamwork.

Favorite vacation spot: I was born in the ancient country of Persia. My hometown is the small city of Shoushtar—about 15,000 years old. I travel there to see my mother and spend time together as family.

Favorite East Bay restaurant: Alborz in Walnut Creek – they serve my favorite Persian cuisine.

Favorite music or other forms of art (Theater? Film? Visual Arts?) I enjoy listening to classic Persian music played with old-time instruments such as violin and drums.

Is there a special cause that you support? I donate to organizations that help support children who do not have parents or cannot receive the basic necessities from their families.

Good Carma Flows To Bishop Ranch CommutersCarma Carpooling helps commuters share cars to save money and time. Since launching the program last March, many Bishop Ranch drivers are now using the Carma Carpooling smartphone app. Along with the hours saved by driving in the carpool lane, drivers also get to know their colleagues through the Carma community.

“I thought I was the only one commuting all the way from Tracy to San Ramon. So, I drove alone. Then I met the Carma crew at my building and I’ve been using the app ever since.” says Ray, a Bishop Ranch commuter. Using the Carma system twice a week, Ray has cut his commute costs up to $80 per month…just under $1,000 saved in a year!

To join the Carma revolution, all you need is a smartphone and the desire to improve your commute! Carmacarpool.com/sfbay
