InNOVA Airport Collaborative Tool

By having the right information, better decisions can be made. The same applies to stakeholders involved in different operations related to the airport.

The InNOVA Airport Collaborative Tool provides a presentation of real-time and stored information of aircraft movements and statistics to users of an InNOVA system and other parties, such as airlines, security, fire stations and ground handlers.

This allows for better planning, less delays and improved operational efficiency, potentially benefiting all stakeholders, including the passengers.

How does it work?

The InNOVA Airport Collaborative Tool consists of one or several servers running in an open environment. We can tailor the server hardware and Linux OS version to suit the task and organisation.

The server can run a web server that serves web pages to remote display clients. As an option, authorisation of users can be enabled, requiring a login to access.

As an alternative to the web server, the InNOVA Airport Collaborative Tool can receive traffic data sent from the InNOVA operational system. Any real-time data is fed over TCP to the connected web clients running inside the browsers on the remote displays.

What is it?

The InNOVA Airport Collaborative Tool consists of web application clients that can follow the same aircraft movements as the controller, on the ground and in the air.

This is achieved by observing targets in a “traffic situation window” that is external to the operational system. The current traffic as well as the flights planned within the next few hours are also displayed in flight plan lists – one list for departing and one list for arriving flights. The statistical view is integrated into the traffic situation window, and is easily available to the user.

Information is distributed using the client’s existing LAN and computer equipment. Statistical data, movement logs and traffic situational displays can be presented to the user in a standard web browser.

The InNOVA reliability

As part of our InNOVA AIR concept with automated, integrated and remote tower solutions, we offer a complete portfolio for safe control of air and ground traffic.

InNOVA systems are being used at more than 100 airports and control centres around the world, including international hubs such as Heathrow, Beijing, Dubai, Toronto, Charles-de-Gaulle and Brussels.

Information presented

In addition to the traffic window, the following information is typically presented:

Time calculations: runway occupancy time, taxi to/from stands and runways, time on stand, de-icing time, departure queue time and arrival waiting time for stand

Event counts: number of movements for each threshold and for the entire airport

Cumulative counts: average time spent on stand, taxiway and runway usage

Benefits

More efficient traffic flow, as air traffic controllers are enabled to predict and monitor the flow, delays and possible bottlenecks

Efficient planning and communication to customers, as key stakeholders get the latest information about the traffic and expected delays

Improved planning of maintenance by airport operations: tarmac, runway inspection, etc
