Confesiones descuidadas. Cuentan que un obrero había encontrado un billete de mil dólares; no le llamó mucho la atención porque en América los billetes son iguales, aunque tengan más valor y aquel papelito no le impresionó demasiado. Se lo guardó en un bolsillo, varios días más tarde, al pasar por un Banco, entró a preguntar cuánto valía. Casi se desmaya cuando se lo dijeron, pues la suma equivalía a tres meses de su jornal... No es raro encontrarse con gente que no sabe lo que tie-ne; puede ser un cuadro de un pintor famoso, un objeto anti-guo, unas monedas raras, unos sellos valiosísimos... Cuando nos enteramos, solemos sentir una especie de envidia. No se nos ocurre pensar que nosotros también tenemos un tesoro que quizá no apreciamos: El Sacramento de la Penitencia. Tal vez al recibirlo frecuentemente y sepamos que no só-lo sirve para perdonar los pecados graves, sino también los le-ves; que aumenta la gracia santificante y nos proporciona una gracia especial para rechazar las tentaciones. Sin embargo, a lo mejor nos parece que no nos aprovecha demasiado, que no nos hace mejores; que nos acusamos una y otra vez de los mis-mos pecados, inútilmente. Si eso pensamos, lo más probable es que nuestras confesiones no sean buenas. La Penitencia es un sacramento que Jesús pagó con su vida. Debemos cuidar todo lo que tiene que ver con la confesión. ¿Hago bien el examen? ¿Pido perdón con dolor? ¿Digo los pecados en concreto y también los veniales? ¿Hago propó-sito de no volver a cometerlos? ¿Cumplo la penitencia?

Careless confessions. They say that a worker had found a thousand-dollar bill; It did not get much attention because in America the tickets are equal even if they have more value and that little piece of paper was not too impressed. He kept it in a pocket, several days later, passing through a bank, came to ask how much it was worth. He almost fainted when told, for the sum amounted to three months of his wages... It is not uncommon to meet people who do not know what they have; It can be a painting of a famous painter, an an-cient object, some rare coins, some invaluable stamps... Then when we find out, we tend to feel a kind of envy. We do not think that we too have a treasure that we may not appreciate: the Sacrament of Penance. Perhaps when we receive it frequent-ly and know that it not only serves to forgive the serious sins, but also the little ones; That enhances sanctifying grace and gives us a special grace to reject Temptations... However, it seems to us that it does not take advantage of us too much, that it does not make us better; That we accuse ourselves again and again of the same sins, uselessly... If we think so, chances are our confessions are not good. Penance is a sacrament that Jesus paid with his life. We must take care of everything that has to do with the confession. Do I do a good examination? Do I ask for forgiveness in pain? Do I say the sins in particular and also the venial? Do I in-tend not to commit them again? Do I fulfill the penance?

Easter Lilies We are asking parishioners to help us with the decoration of the al-

tars, at Immaculate Conception and St. Peter’s, you will be offering an easter Lily in memory or in honor of a loved one. The offering is

$20.00 per plant. Make sure you put all your information and the in-tention on the envelope and bring it next Sunday to church or take it to the office. You will be able to take your plant home three weeks af-

ter easter.
