EUKARYOTIC DNA REPLICATIONAND GENOME MAINTENANCE

September 5 - 9, 2007Abstract Deadline: June 13, 2007

You are cordially invited to participate in the meeting on EUKARYOTIC DNA REPLICATION & GENOME MAINTENANCE which will begin on the evening of Wednesday, September 5th, and end after lunch on Sunday, September 9th, 2007. We are looking forward to a broad-based meeting, and abstracts are welcomed on all aspects of replication of DNA in eukaryotes. The format of the meeting will include morning and evening sessions consisting of short talks, principally on unpublished work. In addition, there will be at least three poster sessions held in the afternoons. OriginsChair: Anne Donaldson Initiation Complex AssemblyChair: Oscar Aparicio Replisome Activation Chair: Bruce Stillman The Fork MachineryChair: Karim Labib Cell Cycle RegulationChair: Julian Blow Checkpoint ResponsesChair: Marco Foiani Structures and FunctionChair: Leemor Joshua-Tor Chromatin and the NucleusChair: Genevieve Almouzni

Abstracts should contain only new and unpublished material and must be submitted electronically by the abstract deadline. Selection of material for oral and poster presentation will be made by the organizers and individual session chairs. Status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our web site as soon as decisions have been made by the organizers.

We are eager to have as many young people as possible attend and have applied for funds from government and industry to partially support graduate students and postdocs. Apply in writing to [email protected] stating need for financial support - preference is given to those submitting abstracts. We look forward to seeing you at Cold Spring Harbor in September. This conference is supported in part by funds provided by:National Cancer Institute

DNA Synthesis•Eukaryotes

•DNA unwinds at a replication origin •Two replication forks form •Bidirectional synthesis of DNA

•Much more DNA; complexed with proteins

•Eukaryotes have much more DNA

•Yeast 250-400 replicons •Mammalian cells up to 25,000

•Solution:

Multiple replication origins

•Yeast 4X that of E. coli •Drosophila 100X that of E. coli
