I. TEN-T – CORE NETWORK„The Baltic – Adriatic Corridor”

1. rail line No. 139, 129, section: (Katowice) – Bielsko-Biała – Zwardoń (also fright corridor No. 5);2. expressway No. S-69, section: Bielsko-Biała – Zwardoń

These cross-border sections are on the list of Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) projects to be financed within the perspective 2014-2020

II. TEN – T COMPREHENSIVE NETWORK

1. Road route No. S-7 (E-77), section: Kraków – Chyżne2. Rail route No. 96, section: - Kraków – Podłęże – Piekiełko - Piekiełko – Nowy Sącz – Muszyna3. „The Via Carpatia” road route No. 9 (planned expressway No. S-19) section: Rzeszów - Barwinek

• Length of PL-SK state border: 541 km (second the longest one after PL-CZ state border):

1) Number of cross-border rail lines: 3, out of them:

- 2 in permanent operation (Zwardoń and Muszyna),

- 1 in temporal operation (Przełęcz Łupkowska),

2) Number of cross-border national road connections: 4, out of them:

- 2 without axle load limitation (Chyzne and Barwinek),

- 1 motorway/ expressway in construction (Zwardoń),

- 1 national road in operation with axle load limitation (Piwniczna),

• Strengthening cooperation of the regions: Małopolska, Silesia, Žilina, Prešov, as well as the „Tatra” Euroregion - development of transport infrastructure;

• Increase of economic/trade activities

ConcClusions

1. There is still a lot to do on the Polish – Slovakia border

2. Visible improved: after the completion of construction of the road infrastructure and modernization of the railway infrastructure, which is part of the TEN-T core network corridor "Baltic – Adriatic”.

3. Opening the freight road traffic, as well as upgrading the rail route in the cross-border section: Bielsko Biała – Zwardoń – Skalite - Žilina would allow:

• to remove an existing bottleneck, • to reduce time and cost of transport between Poland and Slovakia,• to expand the transit possibilities in the North – South axis with wider share of the

Polish seaports.
