What first-time users really need to know.

Getting started with Turning

Technologies at the University of HOUSTON

Did you know? UH Bookstore

According to the UH Bookstore, it is

not necessary to inform the

bookstore that ResponseCards will

be used for a course. A large stock of

ResponseCards are always available

for purchase each semester.

As a courtesy, the Faculty Design &

Instructional Support office

([email protected]) will notify the UH

bookstore on your behalf. He will

collect the course information at the

completion of the required instructor

training session.

Did you know? Blackboard Learn

Turning Technologies can be used in

conjunction with the Blackboard

online learning management system.

For details contact your local

Instructional Designer, Velvette

Laurence ([email protected]).

Did you know? Syllabus Template

The Center for Information

Technology in Education (CITE)

provides a customizable syllabus

template for courses taught in a face-

to-face or online/hybrid environment.

The template includes UH required

items, Blackboard information, and

Turning Technologies information.

Download the template by visiting the

CITE Training Library at

www.coe.uh.edu/cite

Technology Solutions EYE ON IT ResponseWare

Students that are experiencing

connectivity issues with their mobile

device (cell phone, laptop, tablet, etc.)

on the university campus are highly

recommended to purchase the

ResponseCard clicker instead of the

ResponseWare online license.

TUTORIALS TurningPoint Software

TurningPoint online training is

available for users that have

downloaded the polling software.

Consolidating the company's most

popular legacy products, TurningPoint

features a Dashboard interface for

polling in PowerPoint, polling in any

application and self-paced polling.

outlets. In general, the ResponseCard

RF LCD (model: RFC-03-BX) may have

a price range of $30-$50. Device prices

vary depending on the purchase location.

ResponseCards can also be rented per

semester at a reduced cost. Contact the

UH Bookstore for more information:

713-748-0923

Currently there is no “buy back” option

for students to sell their device

back to the UH Bookstore at

the end of the semester.

Students that have purchased

an older model device are not

required to upgrade. All

Turning Technologies devices will work

with the response system.

ResponseWare is the

revolutionary response

system for mobile devices - turns a

participant's web-enabled mobile

device into a virtual ResponseCard.

ResponseWare allows students and

participants to respond using a Wi-Fi

or data connection.

solutions/responseware

Students have the option of purchasing

an online ResponseWare license

instead of the physical ResponseCard

clicker device. This option allows

students to use their own device (cell

phone, laptop, tablet, etc) to participate

in live polling questions. Devices must

be able to access Wi-Fi or their phone

service provider to successfully

participate. In addition, the device must

have the ability to download apps or

access a mobile browser.

There are several license options that

may range from $17-$35 depending on

the license. Students can visit the

Turning Technologies store online

and enter the UH discount school code

(gG9N) to receive a ResponseWare

license code.

The latest release of

TurningPoint is the

easiest-to-use and

most powerful version

to date, offering additional capabilities

and an enhanced overall user

experience. TurningPoint now

consolidates the company's most

popular products into one, simple

interface for polling in PowerPoint®,

polling in any application and self-paced

polling.

solutions/turningpoint

Easily turn any PowerPoint

presentation into an interactive polling

tool. TurningPoint is a PowerPoint®

integration add-on that is free to install

on both PC/Windows and MAC/Apple

platforms. The software works in

conjunction with the Turning

Technologies ResponseCards or

ResponseWare.

In the UH College of Education,

TurningPoint is installed on all CITE

Lab computers and college podiums. If

there is an issue with the software

installation, contact the CITE Lab

technology team by submitting a CITE

Help Ticket at www.coe.uh.edu/help.

Personal computers can also take

advantage of the software. Visit the

“Software Downloads” page to register

and obtain the free polling software
