INTRODUCTION TIME: 10MINS

Give the young people two minutes to write down all the places that they can find information Ask young people to feedback As young people feedback, ask the group about the pros and cons of the various information sources

Each group to feedback on their information board and how they would make sure the information they have included is reliable

SUMMARY

ACTIVITY ONE TIME: 30MINS

In groups of 4or 5, ask the young people to design an information board for their age group. They can use the pro-forma provided or flip charts. The board must contain appropriate information for their age group and all members of each group must be allocated a role e.g. social information, exam information, school transport information, current affairs etc. The information board will provide relevant information for other young people in the school or community and they should also consider the reliability of the information that they choose to display.

Encourage them to use a selection of websites and other materials such as magazines and newspapers

The group should also think about having a variety of information, e.g. If you are in school you may want academic and extra-curricular Information like the exam timetable and the valentines disco

In particular they should consider the variety of young people in their school/community and the type of information that they would be interested in
