INT. GARAGE - DAY

A man moves about the garage. His face is never shown. Theman is Luke, now getting ready to move out of his house. Heis looking through things in the garage. He has a box thatsays "keep" and a trash bag by his side. He goes through

several of the boxes and sorts things into either or thebags. He comes across photos. Most of them seem pretty oldand random. He throws them into the trash. However, one cardmanages to slip out and lands on Lukes foot. Luke picks upthe photo. Its a Polaroid of his friends from years ago.

LUKE(V.O.)

Looking back, it all seems unreal.

INTRODUCTION

Images of the sky, then from out of a car window, andfinally a quick shot of Sara.

Quick images of the gang.

LUKEEvery memory of every moment seemslike an old photograph. The kindwhere everyone looks the happiesttheyve ever been. Everyone looksso defined. So classicallythemselves.

EXT. LUKES HOUSE - NIGHT

Sara holds Lukes hands. She laughs.

SARANight.

INTRODUCTION

Black.

LUKESome nights never leave you.

EXT. SCHOOL PARKING LOT

CHRIS zooms past on a skateboard. He and ERIC head towardChriss car. Right as Eric is about to open the passengerdoor, SARA runs up.

ERICThe hell with that!

Eric and Sara fight like two young brothers for the seat.

INT. - HOUSE - DAY

Luke enters the house. Luke sits his back pack down by thefront door and continues into the kitchen. As he enters thekitchen he notices a note on the fridge that says: "Shifttil 12, leftovers on table". He sees the pizza box and opensit, which reveals a half eaten and not so appetizing pizza.He closes the box and continues to his room.

INT. - CAR - DAY

Sara throws down her phone in disgust.

SARAOkay. Its official. All ourfriends suck.

ERICWhat else is new

CHRISDid anyone try Alex?

ERICReally? Alex? How desperate are we?

INT. - HOUSE - DAY

Luke walks down the stairs and through a hall to his room.

INT. - LUKES ROOM - DAY

Luke sits down and looks forward with a blank stare. Beat.Luke turns to a box next him and takes out a T.V. in it.

INT. - CAR - DAY

Eric violently throws his phone into the back of the car.

ERICThats it. I give up. Iveliterally tried EVERY person in mycontacts. This is so lame.

CHRISHold on a sec. I might know a guywho could join us.

CHRISNew kid that I met in class.

INT. - BEDROOM - DAY

Luke watches TV, but soon his eyes drift off and come acrossa framed photograph of his mother sitting on a nearby box.He picks it up and looks at it.

Intercut: A cometary. A tombstone. Luke stands in front ofthe tombstone. A rose drops to the ground.

INT. - CAR - DAY

CHRISWere working together on a projectso I have his number.

ERICName?

CHRISLuke.

ERICYou have like four different Lukesin here.

CHRISI think his last name started witha M.

INT. - BEDROOM - DAY

Luke gets up from his bed. He takes the photo and exits.

INT. - BATHROOM - DAY

Luke puts the photo down and washes his face. Luke goes toget a cloth to wipe off when he accidentally knocks thephoto down into the sink.

LUKEShit!

The frame is cracked and water has seeped into the picture.

INT. - CAR - DAY

ERICLuke Ferris? Why do you have hisnumber? Hes a mega-douche.

CHRISHes a nice guy. But thats nothim, no.

ERICLuke Pierce?

CHRISMaybe?

INT - BATHROOM - DAY

Luke looks at the ruined photo and tries to wipe it off.Suddenly his cellphone rings. He picks it up.

LUKEHello?

EXT. - HOUSE - DAY

Luke exits his house. Chris and the gang are waiting in hiscar thats pulled up in the street.

CHRISHey man!

Luke enters the car. Sara assaults him with an enormous

smile.

SARA(Loudly)

HEY! Whats up! Im Sara, thatsEric, and of course you know Chris!

LUKE(Sheepishly)

Hi.

ERICGreetings.

CHRISWelcome to the Gang, Luke. Itsgoing to be a good night, I knowit.

ERICWhere are we going anyway?

INT. - CAR - LATER

The gang drives down the treacherous St. Paul Road. Witheach sharp turn brings more uncertainty about whether or notthe car will stay on the road.

ERICChrist! This place better be worthgetting killed for.

CHRISTrust me, youll love it when yousee it.

SARACrappy roads always lead to coolplaces. Its a known fact.

Luke looks out the window. Silence.

CHRISSo Luke. Write much?

CHRISOh. This sounds cruel now, but Ericand I made a bet. Practical degreeor impractical degree. Practicalbeing something like, I dont know,business or math or something likethat. Impractical being yourphilosophy, your English, your Art.You know, the fun ones.

SARADont worry. Youre in a car fullof future unemployed collegegraduates.

CHRISHey now, Ive yet to decide what Iwant to do in college. The onlypassion I have is not something Ican exactly turn into a career.

Chris brings the car to a stop.

EXT. - KKK HOUSE

The gang exit the car.

ERICWell? (Mockingly) Whats so cool,Chris?

CHRISLook over there. Across the field.

Across a field is a very creepy looking old house. The verysight of it sends chills.

SARAGoddamn. Just Goddamn.

CHRISIt gets better. That house is anabandoned KKK house. A couplehundred years ago some prettygruesome and evil things happenedin it.

ERICBull shit. Urban legend bull shit.

CHRISMaybe. But still creepy. Lets go.

SARAYou want to go there? Are youinsane?

CHRISA bit. Cmon.

ERICWe could be busted fortrespassing...

SARAShh!!

There is a moment of silence.

ERICWhat?

A strange sound. Everyone freaks out.

ERICShit!

LUKEIm getting into the car now.

Every member of the gang gets into the car but Chris.

CHRISCmon!

INT. CAR - DAY - LATER

The gang are back on the road.

CHRISYou guys suck.

ERICWhatever man, I wasnt about to getarrested to satisfy your creepyfetishes.

SARAShh! Everyone shut up and listen,this next song is amazing.

Sara reaches and turns up the volume. A homemade CD caseentitled "Summer Dream" sits near the stereo. She looks backto Luke with the hope that he too will love the song. Anambient piece of music starts and the audio mutes.

INT./EXT. SUBURBIA - DAY/NIGHT - SHENANIGANS

The ambient music continues throughout the montage.

The gang drive through various streets and places insuburbia. Whenever they pass someone walking along the roadthey honk, wave, and shout at them. Each time the gangerupts into laughter.

Chris stops the car in front of a random house. Eric exitsand sneaks up to the porch. He rings the door bell andbegins to run off. However, Chris drives off, and Eric isleft alone. He runs after the car, middle finger raised. In

the back of the car, Sara and Luke look out the back window,laugh, and smile at each other.

Later, they stop at a elementary school playground. The ganggets out and run towards the playground. They proceed toplay on the playground. Eric jumps off a high point on the

play ground to look tough. Chris tops him by climbing tosome point even higher and more dangerous. Luke and Sara areon the swings. They talk, and although no dialogue isdistinguishable, its obvious that theyre flirting.

Chris brings the gang back to his car. He opens his truck toreveal an obnoxious amount of fireworks. The gang proceedsto light various fireworks off. Again, Eric and Chris try toout stupid each other by setting off fireworks in the mostidiotic and cool ways possible. Sara sets off a firework butas soon as it it explodes she burst out laughing both infear and in delight. Eric and Chris continue to set offfireworks, but Sara and Luke just watch.

The group continue to drive around as the sun sets. Soon, itis dark. The group head to an ice cream parlor.

EXT. - CAR - NIGHT

The gang is eating ice cream. Chris and Eric sit on the car,and Luke and Sara sit on the ground, again talking andflirting.

ERICNot a better way to spend a Fridaynight, man. Not a better way. Goodtimes, good friends. And good grub.

CHRIS(mockingly)

Amen brother.

ERIC(smiling)

Go to hell.

Eric and Chris both look back up to the night sky. Belowthem, Luke and Sara hold hands.

EXT. CAR - NIGHT

Luke waves goodbye to the car as he walks up to his garage.Sara rushes out of the car.

SARAHold on!

Sara grabs Luke and gives him a enormous hug that nearlyshakes his foundation. Unknown to him, she slips a mix tapein his messenger bag at the same time. Sara grabs his handsand the two stare at each other for a second.

SARA

LUKENight.

INT. GARAGE - DAY

Luke sits on the ground of the garage. His face is again notshown. He is surrounded my several photos from the samenight. He is looking through a journal. He starts reading anentry.

LUKE(Reading)

"I saved my life tonight by doingsome of the stupidest things Iveever done."

Luke laughs.

LUKEJesus.

Luke puts the photos back in their box. While putting themback, he comes across the "Summer Dream" mixtape frombefore. He takes out the cd and puts on via a boomboxsitting in the garage.

LUKE(V.O.)
