1�C UARTsNXP’senhanced16CUARTsaredrop-incompatiblewithindustry-standarddevicesandofferaddedfeatureswithoutapricepremium.ThefamilyincludesCMOS-based,single-toquad-channelUARTsthatsupportthewidestsupplyvoltagerange(2.5,3.3,and5V),operatewithintheindustrialtemperaturerange(-45to80°C),deliverbaudratesupto5Mbps,andofferbuscycletimesthatareupto20%fasterthantraditionaldevices.ManyareavailableintinyHVQFNpackagesthatreducePCBspacebyasmuchas70%.The16CUARTsarefullycompatiblewithLinuxandWindowsOSdrivers,thussavingpreciousdesigntimeandloweringoverallcost.
Special NXP featuresBothfamiliesofUARTsemployanarchitecturethathasbeencarefullyoptimizedforsuperiorperformance.Programmablechannelmodesincreaseflexibilityandmakediagnosticseasiertorun.Multi-dropsupport(alsoknownas“wake-up”or“9-bit”mode)savespowerandimprovesefficiency.Hardwarehandshakingusesmodemcontrolsignalstocontrolthedatastream,preventingFIFOoverflowwithoutinterruptingtheCPU.
