His honours include the Guy Medal, National Medal of Science, Padma Vibhushan, S. S. Bhatnagar Prize etc. S. R. Srinivasa Varadhan, 2007 Abel Prize Winner, is famous for his fundamental contributions to probability theory and in particular for creating a unified theory of large deviations. His other awards include the National Medal of Science, Steele Prize, Padma Bhushan and the Birkhoff Prize. He has received several awards including the Weldon Memorial Prize, Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Statistical Society and Padma Vibhushan (Indias second highest civilian award). Slide 5 Raghu Raj Bahadur, "one of the architects of the modern theory of mathematical statistics", is best known for the "Bahadur Efficiency and the Bahadur-Ghosh-Kiefer representation. D. Basu, one of the major contributors to the foundations of statistics, is well known for Basus theorem (stating the independence of a complete sufficient and an ancillary statistic), and several other fundamental contributions. Jayanta K. Ghosh, co-discoverer of the Bahadur-Ghosh-Kiefer representation and Ghosh-Pratt identity, is well renowned for his contributions to Bayesian statistics and asymptotics. His honours include the Padma Shree and the S. S. Bhatnagar Prize. K. R. Parthasarathy, a pioneer of quantum stochastic calculus, worked in collaboration with Andrey Kolmogorov and was awarded the S. S. Bhatnagar Prize.
