WATER CONSERVATION IN INDIA

WATER CRISIS

Contemporary industry and agriculture account for 92% of global freshwater use. Fulfilling this demand has been motivated more by desire to increase production of food and consumer goods than concern for sustainability.  This irrational global management of a finite resource is the underlying cause of water scarcity. The consequence has been over-extraction of freshwater and pollution of surface water. Population growth and rising wealth drive this overall scenario inexorably into crisis territory. World population is projected to grow from 7.2 billion to 9.6 billion by 2050.

REASON FOR WATER CRISISWater pollution is really bad,it makes people sick and sad.Throwing junk into the sea, makes it green just like a pea.It does not help us, not at all, even if your big or small.Polluted water everywhere,

polluted water, we can't bear.Stop polluting, let's work together,to make the water clean and better.Water means the world to us,so come and work, don't make a fuss.Polluted water everywhere, polluted water, we can't bear!

SOURCES OF WATER IN INDIA

WAYS OF CONSERVING WATER

The Grundfos Water Conservation Awareness Programme is initiated to create awareness amongst school children in India about the importance of water conservation. The urgent necessity to preserve the most precious resource known to man is the core of the entire programme. It is therefore important to continuously spread the crucial message of water conservation to ensure that the future generations have access to water.

USES OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN

COSERVING WATERIt is evident that in order to effectively address the severe projected water deficit in India, the efficiency of agricultural water-use in the country should be significantly enhanced coupled with an increase in the perceived value of water among consumers and other stakeholders. Upgrading the country’s archaic irrigation infrastructure and adopting modern micro-irrigation technologies such as drip-irrigation and water-sprinkler systems is recommended. Farmers must be encouraged to adopt scientific cropping techniques to maximize agricultural yields and enhance water-use efficiency of their produce.

AWARNESS PROGRAME

* Check all faucets, pipes and toilets for leaks.* Install water saving showerheads and ultra-low-flush toilets.* Take shorter showers.* Never use your toilet as a wastebasket.* Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or shaving.* Defrost frozen food in the refrigerator.* Rinse vegetables in a full sink or pan of water.* Fully load your dishwasher.* Rinse dishes in a full sink or pan of water.* Wash full loads of clothes.
