ALDEN - The Helena Township Library Advisory Board met Dec. 3. Blanche Potrafke was welcomed as a new board member by our chairperson.

The librarian's report showed 872 books taken out in November; 310 more than November of last year.

Two new books were added to the library: "People vs Kirk" by Robert Traver and "Death in California" by Joan Barthel.

Librarian Alberta Whisler reported on the MMLL meeting in Cadillac where she was introduced by Mr. Best as the only librarian there whose library had rated in the top five of the state per population. Cadillac Library can usually locate at least 50% of the books needed for the local libraries to borrow if necessary. The* also informed all librarians at the meeting that all library board members must be elected by the public. So names will be placed on the November election in 1982.

Our library can also look forward to two small federal grants in the future, and these monies must be used to purchase reference books.

A suggestion was made to attempt to keep the library open 20 hours per week and to have the children's story hour in the mornings this summer. It was also suggested that when we submit these suggestions to the township board

that we also ask them t( by June Parks and Darlene consider asking the taxpayer p a i g e . Next month Alberta for a y« mill to run the library Whisler and Louise Blissett
