The reaction of KPO 2 F 2 with the strong Lewis acid SbF 5 is studied as a potential route to the unknown PO 2 + cation. The resulting product (III), synthesized in high yield, has the desired PO 2 SbF 6 composition but consists of an eight-membered oxygen-bridged (SbF 4 O 2 PF 2 ) 2 ring which adopts chair conformation. As revealed by single crystal XRD, (III) crystallizes in the triclinic space group P 1 with Z = 2. The compound is further charac- terized by Raman, IR, and NMR spectroscopy, and by DFT calculations. Leads to an Eight-Membered Antimony-Oxygen-Phosphorus-BridgedRing. — The reaction of KPO2F2 with the strong Lewis acid SbF5 isstudied as a potential route to the unknown PO2

+ cation. The resultingproduct (III), synthesized in high yield, has the desired PO2SbF6 compositionbut consists of an eight-membered oxygen-bridged (SbF4O2PF2)2 ring whichadopts chair conformation. As revealed by single crystal XRD, (III) crystallizesin the triclinic space group P1 with Z = 2. The compound is further charac-terized by Raman, IR, and NMR spectroscopy, and by DFT calculations. —(SCHNEIDER, STEFAN; VIJ, ASHWANI; SHEEHY, JEFFREY A.; THAM,FOOK S.; SCHROER, THORSTEN; CHRISTE, KARL O.; Z.
