Peterborough is an Environment City and is ideal for cycling, thanks to an extensive network of around 200km of cycle routes, including 11 named and numbered routes providing a quick, safe and easy way to get around. Linking to these routes is the Green Wheel, a 45 mile long cycle route circling the city, which takes you through the historic fens and scenic countryside that surrounds Peterborough. There are plenty of places to stop off at, such as the Crown Lakes, Flag Fen and Ferry Meadows Country Parks, and villages such as Peakirk, Newborough and Farcet.

Peterborough City Council work hard to seek improvements in the cycle network and to ensure that new traffic developments take into account the needs of cyclists. If you know of any locations which you think could benefit from improvements, contact the Travelchoice Team on 01733 747474.
