Introducing In Memory of Me, the totally cashless precious metals donation drive. Throughout our diocese many have outdated jewelry, passed to them from a family member, just sitting in a drawer. Some have unmatched earrings, that will never again be worn. An engagement band from an engage-ment called off. A wedding band remains after a divorce that only brings sadness. All of this can be transformed into a beautiful source of hope for our parishes, and way to offset financial obstacles for those responding to an authentic call to a vocation.

Your donation is 100% tax deductible for its total value received, and all the funds it garners are passed to the diocese. All names of donors will be placed in a prayer book as an ordination gift to new priests. Receipts of

more than $5,000 will be accompanied by the proper IRS form, and the donor’s name will be inscribed on a chalice for a newly ordained priest in need. You may already be giving monetary gifts to the diocese, but now you can give above and beyond what you may have even imagined. Be assured, God will not be outdone in generosity!

How to donateBoxes and mailing labels are available in the narthex of your church, or you may inquire with your parish office. If you would like to request a mailer be sent directly to you, call 1-305-563-6679. To help us maximize your donation, we ask you to consider your mailing costs as part of your donation.

To assure your gift will be delivered correctly, please hand your sealed donation box containing your completed form (see back) directly to the postal clerk and request a receipt.

1)  PACK AND SEAL YOUR BOX. Please use crumpled paper, or some form of packing material, to protect your contents. 

2) APPLY THE LABEL. Place the label on the box in the appropriate location, and allow the bottom edge of the label to seal the lid closed.

3) DROP YOUR BOX AT YOUR POST OFFICE. If you are unable to drop your box at the post office, you can call the postal service to request your carrier pick your up your Priority Mail Shipping Box directly from you. You must be present to hand the box off. We ask you to please pay the postage in order to send us your donation. And, please be sure to request a receipt from your carrier at that time. 

By combining materials with this form, the donor represents and warrants ownership of the material or the donor’s properly authorized agency from the owner of the material with the right and capacity to transfer ownership of the material to the Joliet Diocese Vocations Office free of all liens and encumbrances. In no event shall the Joliet Diocese Vocations Office be liable for incidental or consequential expenses or damages incurred by reason of any negligence or any breach of warranty or obligation arising out of or relating to the shipment and processing of the Material governed hereby or any subsequent sale or use of any metal received by the Joliet Diocese Vocations Office hereunder.

Note: The above information is used to create a file to house photos, precious metal content and weight & precious stone description. This file will also contain appraisal letter and description, assayers report (if applies), GIA grading (if available), as well copy of the wholesale or estate purchase receipt.
