Hutchie Herald June/July 2017

You built your wall on our land

After having recently finished enclosing our land with a wall and having had a well installed, two guys came to me and said, “You built your wall on our land.” I replied, “What?”

(as we had done all the paper work.) My heart sank realizing that we could lose everything we’d invested. We went immediately to prayer and to the negotiating table.

Renewed perspective

God soon reminded me that the project was His and He could do with it as He pleased. Romans 8:28 says “All things work together for good for those who love God and are

called according to His purposes.”

Is that what He wanted after all--that I give the project back into His hands instead of running off with my own ideas and plans? I now have a renewed perspective and am more

diligently seeking his directives.

God did it!

It turns out that the seller knowingly sold his nephews’ land and had people sign the papers who didn’t verify info prior to signing. The owners of this idle land had no intention

of selling it and certainly not for that price. Several weeks later, papers were signed by all involved agreeing to the sale of this land to SIM, a real miracle indeed! I’m still amazed

at how our Sovereign God orchestrated this situation. Although we did end up paying more for the land it is still a very good price for that size of land in this area.

Projected project developments

At present two outside latrines and showers are being installed next to where we hope to build the ministry center. Other projects will probably be put on hold for 2 or 3 months

(until after rainy season). This will allow my missionary colleague, who actually

knows something about construction, to return and supervise the work. Also, we are still in need of funds to build a duplex and the actual ministry center.

Over 70 students earn Bibles

My house worker (who helped correct the lessons) and I, saw many joyous faces as 72 students proudly showed their friends the Bibles they earned upon their completion of

required Bible lessons.

No, I didn’t cheat

Part way through this school year, we discovered that students were cheating. When I faced them with undeniable evidence of their cheating, their response was, “No, I didn’t

cheat.” Cheating here has reached epidemic proportions (especially in school). Saying you didn’t cheat (even when it's obvious you did) seems less embarrassing than telling the

truth. Pray that these 16 students I expelled from the course will understand the need for integrity in all areas of their lives.

Teaching sessions

My colleagues and I have finished our 2016/2017 school year teaching sessions. This year:

over 150 people participated in our ‘kids ministry’ mini seminars

about 150 new Sunday school teachers have been trained

Page 12: In His Steps - Corry Firstcorryfirst.church/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Summer-2017-Newsletter.pdf · In His Steps Camp Halo is in need of kids clothes!!!! Sizes 4T and up!! Boys sizes

In His Steps

Thanks to your generosity…

--Thanks to your generous gifts, about 170 Sunday school teachers learned to read and write and can now prepare their Sunday school lessons in their mother tongue.

--Due to a donation from the States, we were able to provide t-shirts to well over 100 poor people in our region.

No, ‘Tantie’ we don’t want a break

Since the more advanced youth Bible study group had been unable to meet for several weeks due to end of school year scheduling conflicts, I had our typical end of school year

prayer and wrapping up of the year’s activities. Imagine my surprise last night when several of these youth showed up again saying, "No Tantie, we don’t want a break. We’ll

have even more time to come now than before." Now that’s encouraging I thought, but at some time Tantie Bev will still need to take a break too.

A time for everything

As people are now heading off to their fields, I’ll be working more on kids lessons and preparing for our 3rd

French camp and for our 1st regional Sunday school teachers camp as

well as arranging things on our new property.

Thanks so much for those of you who were aware of the land situation and upheld it in prayer!

Without your prayers and generosity, this ministry would not be possible!

Communication

If you were not aware of the land crisis and would have liked to be (or want to be informed of more current prayer requests when they arise in the future), please let me know at

this e-mail address: [email protected] and I’ll make sure you are on this list for the most updated or urgent requests.

Bev Hutchison
