Presidents Report
On Sunday, President Elect Heather, Lynda and Ken attended the 2018 District Assembly at Deakin University which will help set the club direction for the coming year. I am sure we will get an update from Heather on Thursday evening.
District 9810 is setting up a “Register of Experts”, and is look-ing for expressions of interest from Rotarians and non-Rotarians who have particular expertise. The Expert Register will be a list of people with scientific, technical, professional expertise who are willing to assist the District and its Clubs to design and implement high quality, high impact humanitarian service projects across the six areas of focus.
It is envisaged that the Expert Register will provide Clubs with access to people who can assist them to implement best prac-tice, hence optimizing Rotary’s investment in international ser-vice projects, (both grant funded and non-grant funded pro-jects). If you are interested in joining the register, please com-plete the Registration of Interest Form available on the district website and include a list of your skills, referencing the Areas of Focus policy areas. When completed email to
Our regular Thursday night meeting was replaced by a fantas-tic fellowship night out at the National Theatre in St. Kilda to see the CLOC musical theatre company’s production of Strictly Ballroom. Before the show we met up at Quan 88 an excellent Vietnamese restaurant in St Kilda. I had not been there be-fore, I will certainly go again. As ever Megan’s organisation was first class. This was her final fellowship event for the year; my thanks for all the hard work she has put in.
David Lea has now updated the Community, International and Youth Service pages on the club website website to remove out of date copy and make the pages easier to update. Have a look, they are a significant improvement. While you are there, click the Bayside Charity Golf Day tab for information on this major fundraiser. Remember that the website is still the main platform for us to tell the outside world about Beaumaris Rota-ry and what we do. We can only do that if the service teams provide David with regular updates on their activities that can then be blended into the information on the relevant pages.
We are back at Victoria Golf Club on Thursday. Our speaker is Dush Dedic from St John’s Ambulance. He will be talking

about resuscitation and how to use a defibrillator like the one we helped fund for the Concourse. A reminder that we will also be taking a vote on the resolutions proposed by RC Manningham and RC Rowville- Lysterfield which I recently circulated to all members.

Fellowship Event: Strictly Ballroom
The final Fellowship event for this Rotary year was an evening at the theatre. Thirty one members and partners attended the CLOC Musical Theatre production of Strictly Ballroom. Prior to that 26 had dinner at the QUAN 88 Viet-namese restaurant.
CLOC Musical Theatre is one of Victoria’s largest and most successful non-professional music theatre compa-nies. Established in 1964, CLOC commenced performing in church halls and on school stages prior to moving to the Alexander Theatre at Monash University with its 500 seat auditorium. After performing for 38 years at the Alexander Theatre, in 2010 CLOC relocated to its current perfor-mance venue – the historical 783 seat ‘The National Thea-tre Melbourne’ in St Kilda.
The night was another well organised and extremely en-joyable event from Fellowship Event lady extraordinaire Meagan.
Well done on your year as Fellowship organiser.

PEACEFUL
WINTER
Snow on Lake Bled, Slovenia, makes the scene look like some-thing out of a fairy tale. A functioning church stands on the small island in the middle of the lake, as it has since the late 17th century.
