How many times have you said, “Ready or not, here I come?” Hide and Seek is a classic kids game. Up in heaven God is counting down the days until He will say, “Ready or not, here I come.” The difference is, God will send Jesus to find everyone who HAS BEEN SEEKING Him. Jesus will find all the Christians faster than you can blink your eyes and then he will take them to heaven to live with Him forever. Here are a few twists to the old “Hide and Seek” game in which you and your friends can have fun. Hide and Light Play this game when it’s dark outside and all the lights are off inside. Declare an object to be base. The “finder” carries a flashlight and counts to 20 while everyone else goes to hide. The “finder” tries to catch each person with a beam of light! He has to beam them before they get back to base. Hide and Touch Play traditional “Hide and Seek”, except the “finder” announces a letter of the alphabet before he counts. When each “hider” is looking for a place to hide, he must be touching an object that starts with the letter the “finder” announced. Hide and Guess While playing “Hide and Seek”, all of the players doing the hiding must leave their toes/feet sticking out of their hiding place. The “finder” must identify each person by his or her feet only. Read I Thessalonians 47:13- 18. Then, draw a picture of what you think it will look like when Jesus comes back for everyone who believes in Him. Heaven is a mystery to all of us, but especially to kids. We can't see it or even see pictures of it. We can't taste it or touch it. It is a parent's responsibility to teach their children about heaven and to foster excitement in them regarding their eternal home. In his book, "Heaven for Kids", Randy Alcorn addresses many questions kids ask. Here are a few questions he addresses. Will we have bodies in heaven or will we be ghosts floating in the air? No child wants to become a ghost. The Bible says, "We know that when He appears we will be like Him, because we will see Him as He is" (John 3:2). Jesus in His resurrected body proclaimed that he was not a ghost but that He had actual "flesh and bones" (Luke 24:39). Won't heaven be boring? Everything good, enjoyable, and exciting comes form God. Jesus is creative, fun and definitely not boring. Heaven is going to be full of surprises and adventures as we learn more about God and explore His new universe. Will we eat and drink in heaven? After His resurrection, Jesus asked His disciples for some food and ate a piece of fish in front of them (Luke 24: 41-43). He proved that resurrected people can eat real food. Other Bible verses say that we will eat feasts with Jesus in an earthly kingdom. Will we laugh? Jesus promised, "Blessed are you who weep now, because you will laugh...Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! Take note--your reward is great in heaven" (Luke 6:21-23). The Bible promises God will wipe away all our tears (Revelation 2:4). Heaven will be full of JOY!!!
