Not surprisingly, our commu- nity has been gracious and welcoming. Here’s what one parent had to say after picking up her child from a screening: “When I picked [my child] up last Wednesday after her visitation day, she had a big smile on her face and immediately said, ‘I had so much fun; can I come back here tomorrow?!’ She was touched by the welcoming spirit and kindness of the students and teachers. I know that Immaculata places great emphasis on character and integrity, and it is a refreshing experience to witness those tenets lived out by a group of young people. Please pass along our thanks to the students and teachers that made her day so enjoyable.” We are engaging young minds in high- level critical thinking and hands-on discovery through our new Maker Club. If you have a 5th - 8th grade child interested in design, engineer- ing, math, technology and/or sci- ence...consider the Maker Club. Under the guidance of STEM Direc- tor Mr. Gregory Louie, the co-founder of Splat Space, Mr. Jeffrey Crews and Mr. Alex Franke, students will work with and eventually build their own 3D printer. 3D printers are revolutionizing the way we approach manufacturing and even medicine. Our students have the chance to gain cutting edge technical skills in a supportive environment. Students will also learn valuable les- sons in teamwork while building pa- tience and determination through small failures that ultimately lead to success. And if you are a parent interested in learning how to build your own 3D printer or just have some fun tinker- ing with devices, we would appreciate your help as well. Immaculata News

There have been a lot of new faces around Immaculata lately. New stu-dents for the 2015-16 school year have been here visiting and taking assess-ment tests as part of their application process. Not surprisingly, our commu-nity has been gracious and welcoming. Please pass along our thanks to the students and teachers that made her day so enjoyable.”

We are engaging young minds in high-level critical thinking and hands-on discovery through our new Maker Club. If you have a 5th - 8th grade child interested in design, engineer-

ing, math, technology and/or sci-ence...consider the Maker Club. Under the guidance of STEM Direc-tor Mr. Students will also learn valuable les-sons in teamwork while building pa-tience and determination through small failures that ultimately lead to success. And if you are a parent interested in learning how to build your own 3D printer or just have some fun tinker-ing with devices, we would appreciate your help as well. Each week our Phil's Challenge team leaders will select a Student of the Week for their team. This week's stu-dents are selected for raising the most money so far. Congratulations to Bella for being our top student fundraiser in the whole school this week. Keep up the great work. Amazing things are possible!

  • After School Counselors Are you or anyone you know looking for a fun part-time job? Immaculata needs After School Counselors. Hours are 3-5:45pm, Monday-Friday. You can even do just one day or a few days during the week. Duties include over-seeing study hall and recreational ac-tivities for children ranging from PreK to 8th grade. Interested parties should contact Mrs. Langlois. Help Needed for Way of the Cross

As we begin to rehearse and prepare for the middle school presentation of Way of the Cross, we need your help. We need more costumes for the stu-dents to wear. The costumes are sim-ple "robes" and we can give you an example to use as a pattern. If you are interested in helping us out, please contact Mrs. Stutz or Mrs. Weeks. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Trinity Choral Festival Tuesday

Feb 24 and Wednesday Feb 25!!!

Middle School students who are in-volved in Vocal Club or Choir are invited to participate in the Trinity Choral Festival again this year. Im-maculata students have attended the festival for the last three years. This year, more than 100 students from four schools will be participating: Trinity, St. Thomas More, Voyager Academy and Immaculata. The stu-dents present one classical piece, one folk song or spiritual, and one Broad-way or show tune, with choreography! Our clinician this year is Dr. Dan Huff, Dept. Head of the School of Music at UNC, and our choreogra-pher is Annette Laymen, founder of Arts Mission. It is a great opportunity for our students to work with such accomplished professionals in their field.
