IMI STI is an international leader in valve actuation. Our products are designed for use in the most severe service applications (valves, dampers, fan inlet drives and other devices). Our goal is to meet customers’ every specific need – as a result, we specialise in customised products.

IMI STI offers a diverse range of valve actuation products, including linear and quarter turn actuators, smart and traditional positioners and also all types of accessories.

Since its foundation in 1960, IMI STI has focused on the development, design and production of complete actuation systems to operate industrial valves for the most demanding applications and processes – those applications assessed in terms of forces, speed, accuracy or a combination of these demands. This requires not just the ‘muscle’ (the actuator) but also the ‘brain’ (the positioners and other components, which control the motion following an inlet signal).

Linear valve actuatorOur pneumatic linear piston actuators (SCV) are designed to drive control valves for the most demanding applications in Power and Oil & Gas, such as turbine bypass, steam conditioning, desuperheaters, anti-surge compressors and many others. IMI STI’s fast-stroking, highly reliable actuators have been recognised for providing superior performance in severe service applications for over 50 years. Thanks to the patented design of the piston, SCV actuators grant smooth and precise valve operation without any maintenance for the whole operating life. SCV actuators are designed with a manifold mounting system for a wide range of custom accessories and control systems to meet the most demanding and critical valve operating conditions.

Quarter turn actuatorThe RT Series is a complete range of pneumatic and hydraulic quarter turn actuators, with materials selected to withstand the most hostile of environmental conditions. They are suitable for all on-shore and off-shore applications, covering the general on-off valve and modulating control valve duties. The RT Series is designed to provide maximum reliability and flexibility to cover a wide range of valves in all pressure classes, with a full range of IMI STI’s accessories and control systems available for any product line, designed and manufactured to fully comply with the most demanding customer specifications.

PowerIMI STI has enabled world-class control valves to provide severe service in power due to its technology leading actuation. Key applications include turbine bypass systems; steam damper heating; boiler level control (including nuclear); pump recirculation; emergency shut down; line isolation; and dampers for fans.

Oil and gasWe provide compressor anti-surge, especially hot gas bypass; choke valves; gas to flare; and dampers for fans.

LNGOver 90% of compressor anti-surge valves in LNG plants worldwide are fitted with IMI STI actuation control systems. In order to maintain plant up-time, yet operate efficiently, the LNG compressor needs to run as close as possible to the surge line. This can only be achieved with IMI STI actuation – hence its use in LNG applications throughout the world.
