IIMU's academic programs are based on global best practices in curriculum design and delivery. To achieve this, we have created an environment that has attracted a young core faculty with the potential to be second to none – doctoral graduates of the top schools in India, Europe and North America. IIMU actively invests in the growth of our faculty and provides a range of support initiatives to encourage both theoretical and practitioner-oriented research. We have recently moved to our permanent campus of over 300 acres which provides infrastructure and facilities second to none. This campus will be the base from which we scale up over the next twenty years and beyond to build a management institute of international repute.

Incubation Center

IIMU's new Incubation Center started operation in August 2016. The Center is creating an ecosystem which nurtures and promotes entrepreneurship among IIMU students and supports aspiring entrepreneurs in the Udaipur region. It helps incubatees develop and test their ideas, connects them to domain experts, provides seed funding and facilitates contacts with investors.

The Center organizes the Management Development Program for Women Entrepreneurs each year and also provides support for students who want to work on their own entrepreneurial project as part of their mandatory Summer Internship.

Center for Development Management (CDM)

Udaipur is one of the leading hubs for practitioners of development management in India. It has practically become the NGO capital of India. The CDM at IIM Udaipur works closely with the main NGOs in the region to conduct research and build capabilities in this sector.

The CDM collaborates with the leading international school working in this field, Duke University's Sanford School of Public policy. Among other joint activities, IIMU and Duke conduct the annual Summer Program for Future Leaders in Development Management.

Center for Business Analytics (CBA)

The Center brings cutting-edge research in analytics and big data to the classroom by offering customized practice-oriented courses in all our programs. The delivery of these courses as well as significant research in this area is achieved in the purpose-built Analytics Lab.

Plans are well-advanced for establishing additional Centers of Excellence for Tourism and Supply Chain Management.

In a departure from the structure in many B-schools in India, administrative roles at IIMU for functions such as Program Management, Student Affairs, Admissions and Placements are handled primarily by professionals with oversight by faculty groups. This frees individual faculty members to focus on their core responsibilities of teaching and research.

Visiting faculty enrich this mix – some of the most respected names from leading management schools in India and abroad keep returning to IIMU to teach in its stimulating and liberating environment. Senior industry leaders are also welcomed to campus throughout the year to give courses and lectures from a practitioner’s perspective.

Industry Interface Our priority is to ensure that students understand how theory meets practice across all functional areas. Immersion as a PhilosophyThe world over, MBA programs are realizing that learning is best achieved by doing. At IIMU, this indispensable idea translates to Immersion – in other words, getting students to dive into real-life environments and explore learning for themselves:

EntrepreneurshipOne of IIMU's key aims is to ensure that students have the freedom and institutional support they need to explore their entrepreneurial ambitions. This is reflected in all aspects of our programs: in-depth orientation to entrepreneurship on day one; an inspiring range of elective courses; intensive mentoring during the program and beyond; flexible placement options for students choosing to pursue an entrepreneurial venture; assistance in procuring seed funding and equity capital.

International PerspectiveAt IIM Udaipur, learning has no boundaries. Our initiatives to instill a global perspective are an integral part of all our activities:

The International Business in Practice elective enables PGP students to work on short duration consulting assignments at international locations including U.A.E., Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand

PGPX students spend an entire five-month semester at Purdue University mastering advanced global SCM

Duke University sends a cohort of public policy students every year for the Summer School for Future Leaders in Development

PGP students can spend a semester at a leading business school in Germany or France as part of our international student exchange program

Over 50% of PGP students take advantage of one of the many options to study or work abroad for periods ranging from two weeks to three months during the course of their two year program.

Concrete support continues after graduation. Students opting for a career path in entrepreneurship can receive a stipend to help cover the basic cost of living while they focus on their larger objective of starting a venture.

Students also can benefit from a placement holiday, allowing them to use campus placement services at a later date, within two years of graduating.

For a new Institute, the priority is to get its fundamentals right. At IIM Udaipur we do not try to do everything. We have chosen to do a few key things, do them differently and make sure they are of the highest standard. The programs offered by the Institute reflect this approach.

IIMU's post graduate programs build on the proven results that have earned IIMs global respect. But we have adapted and customized them so that our graduates offer unique skills and training in an increasingly competitive global workplace. IIMU students also benefit from an individualized support system to help them take advantage of the array of academic and extra-curricular choices available, so their personal journey at IIMU reflects their needs, interests and priorities.

Similarly, we have been selective in the short-duration programs we offer. IIMU has explicitly chosen to focus exclusively on mission-driven executive education.

PGPXThe 15 month Dual degree Post Graduate Program in Global Supply Chain Management is unique among Indian one year MBA programs. In addition to providing a thorough grounding in management fundamentals, it is the only one year MBA that offers an intensive specialization in supply chain management. It is designed and undertaken as a full partnership with Purdue University in the USA, one of the world leaders in the SCM domain. Graduates earn a PGPX diploma from IIM Udaipur as well as an MS in Global Supply Chain Management from Purdue.

Core Programs

FPMThe Fellow Program in Management is IIM Udaipur's doctoral level program designed for students with strong academic credentials who aspire to undertake demanding original research. Graduates of the FPM will be well-equipped for a career in academia as well as research or consulting positions in industry or the NGO sector. The FPM is offered in four areas: Marketing, Operations Management, Finance & Accounting and Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management.

IIMU undertakes only a limited number of short duration programs which have been designed to reflect our vision and priorities.

All the scientific and economic development across the world means nothing to the one in six people who goes to bed hungry every day. The world, and especially India, needs skilled and accomplished development management professionals in leadership roles who can make a difference.

IIM Udaipur collaborates with the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University to offer a two month long Summer School program which brings together students from Duke, post graduate development management students from some of the top schools in India and young practitioners from NGOs across the country. The singular objective of this program is to create the next generation of leaders in this domain who will positively impact the development management sector in the years to come.

IIMU aims to attract a different kind of candidate to its post graduate programs. High academic potential is essential, not enough. What matters is a willingness to unlearn and relearn, to delve deeply within and without. We expect our students to bring hunger to the table – demanding more from themselves, their classmates and the Institute. Each batch plays a vital role in advancing the evolving culture of the campus. Even at this nascent stage, IIMU already has a student-written constitution in place as well as an honor code and a values-driven student self-government.

The rigor and high standards from inside the classroom are carried to all campus activities and community life outside the classroom. Both academically and in a rich choice of extra-curricular options, the spectrum of experience that IIMU offers its students ranges from the rural to the global. Myriad clubs and committees encourage students to explore nature, culture, sports, art and adventure with no limit but their curiosity and enthusiasm.

Every student has an opportunity to make a meaningful impact and this is the motivation we offer them – to transform not just their own lives but by helping build the fabric of this new IIM to help transform the lives of many others.
