THANK YOU to the hundreds of IHM

households who made pledges to the 2016

Archbishop’s Annual Appeal over the last

weeks!

100% OF THE FUNDS received over

our parish goal will return to us here at

IHM without any assessment from the Archdiocese. That means that every dollar

given to the AAA is worth about $1.30 in money contributed to the Sunday

offertory! Your gift helps the Archdiocese and our parish!

IF YOU HAVE NOT YET made your pledge to the 2016 AAA, please do so

soon. To make your pledge online, simply go to http://appeal.archatl.com. Please be

sure to choose IHM as your designated parish!

February 14 Offertory: $19,994.00

Electronic Offertory: $4,790.54

Total: $24,784.54

This week’s Second Collection will be

for the support of Black & Indian

Missions.

Next week’s Second Collection will go to

the IHM Debt Reduction Fund.

In calling for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis described his heart-

felt desire for a “24 Hours for the Lord” to be implemented around the world on the

Friday and Saturday preceding the Fourth Week of Lent, i.e., March 4 and 5, with a

special focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

At Immaculate Heart of Mary, the “24 Hours for the Lord” will begin with Mass at

8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 4; it will continue with Exposition of the Blessed

Sacrament throughout the day on Friday, until the Stations of the Cross—in English

at 6:30 p.m. and in Spanish at 7:30 p.m. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will

then resume and continue throughout Friday night and Saturday morning, and

conclude with Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation at

9:00 a.m.

Information about online sign-up for Adoration during the hours of Exposition of the

Blessed Sacrament will be available next week. Plan to join Pope Francis and

Catholics around the world for this special moment of grace.

YOUNG MARRIED COUPLES PALM SUNDAY PICNIC Sunday, March 20 Have you been married less than 10 years? Do you want to get to know other

IHM couples in a similar life stage? Do you like eating brunch? Then please

join the IHM’s Young Married Couples for a picnic brunch following the 9:00

a.m. Mass on Palm Sunday, March 20. We are meeting at the home of Isaac &

Rebecca Nels, within walking distance of IHM. Bring a brunch food (bagels,

muffins, fruit salad, etc.) to share, lawn chairs/outdoor blankets, and any spe-

cialty beverages. Children are welcome. In fact, all parents can bring Easter

eggs and we'll have an egg hunt for all the toddlers! This is a great opportunity

to meet other YMCs at IHM!

IHM's Young Married Couples is a fellowship group to help connect couples at

a similar life stage with one another. Generally, we are 25-35 years old, engaged

or married 0-10 years, with no children or children under age 3. We meet for

social events once a month, do service projects 2-3 times a year, and meet up at

parish-wide events (such as the Lenten Fish Frys and the September Parish

Picnic). We welcome all of IHM young married couples to join us! For more

information on the group, or to RSVP for the Palm Sunday Picnic, email Megan

Denton ([email protected]) or find us on Facebook "IHM Young

Marrieds."

Journeying (Back) to the Waters of Baptism Did you decide to “give up” something this Lent? Are you praying more than usual? Are you giving an extra portion of your time or money to people in need? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions – if you do anything to observe Lent as a season of spiritual renewal – then you are, in a sense, participating in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Lent originated in the ancient church as a period of intense preparation for those desiring to be baptized at Easter. Even now, our community’s observance of Lent begins with the Elect: the 20 adults and schoolchildren who will enter our baptis-mal font during the Easter Vigil. The rest of us are called to participate in their forty days of preparation as a way of recommitting ourselves to our own baptis-mal promises. Thus, in a sense, we will all be going through the RCIA process over the next few weeks, as a way of remembering who we are and who we are called to be. The Elect continue to rely on our prayers and example. But the season of Lent also turns the tables and asks the rest of us to follow their example. They have chosen to embrace the cross of Christ and to hope to his resurrection. We made the same commitment when we were baptized and reaffirmed it when we were confirmed. Are we now prepared to live it out for another year? Drew Denton Director of Faith Formation

During the season of Lent, you will notice the Book of Elect displayed in the niche near the baptismal font. This book contains the names of those who will be baptized at the Easter Vigil. Please pray for all the young people and adults who have written their names in this book. And give thanks that, through the waters of baptism, God has called you by name as well.

Attention all women! IHM will be hosting the Faces of Mercy Catholic Women's Conference/Lent Retreat. It will be right here in our parish on March 5. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. and we will start with Holy Mass at 8:30 a.m. We will watch videos from popular Catholic speakers prepared especially for women for this event, participate in discussion groups, and pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet together, among other activities, prayer and fellowship. Join us as we experience God's mercy in our lives and learn to live His Mercy with others, especially in this season of Lent, when we prepare to celebrate our Savior's death and resurrection. To register, please go to http://tiny.cc/facesofmercy.
