Short Term Medical
• STM – What is it?
– Affordable major medical coverage purchased on a temporary basis
– Accept/reject
– Effective dates as early as 12.01a.m. the next day. Can request later effective date up to 60 days after application date
STM eligibility
• Eligible applicants ages 18 through 64 years and 11 months, spouses, and dependent children under age 19 (under 25 if full time student)
• Child only ages 2-18
• Applicants can answer health questions with ‘NO’ response
Payment Options
• Monthly pay – up to 6 or 12 months – Check, money order, credit card, auto bank
withdrawal
• Single pay – 30 to 180 days, select exact number of days
• 10 day free look period
Payment options
• Your subsequent monthly credit card/ach premium deductions will occur based upon the effective date of coverage. – If your coverage effective date is the 1st -
15th, your premium will be deducted on the 1st of the month.
– If your coverage effective date is the 16th-31st, your premium will be deducted on the 15th of the month.
STM Plan Enhancements
• Ambulance; now up to $500 per occurrence for ground and up to $1,000 per occurrence for air.
• Removal of $2,500 benefit maximum for knee
injuries/disorders and gallbladder removal surgery; benefit now pays up to the calendar-year maximum
• Removal of the six-month waiting period for hysterectomy, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, repair of deviated nasal septum or any type of surgery involving the sinus, myringotomy, tympanotomy, herniorraphy or cholecystectomy
