Mr. Elmassry has B. SC & M. Sc in electrical engineering from Ain Shams and Cairo Universities in 1984 and 1986 respectively and a diploma in environmental engineering from American university, Egypt, in 1996.

Mr. Elmassry is an expert in multi-disciplines, who has specialized in identifying, studying, and developing Energy Efficiency, renewable energy, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) & clean energy in industrial and commercial plants. In addition to power & water generation, waste to energy, renewable energy based greenhouse, rain enhancement projects and strategic planning. He worked in MENA region, China, South Asia countries and Australia.

Mr. Elmassry prepared and conducted many training courses in the field of EE technologies, small/medium scale NG-based PG/cogeneration, CDM projects and electrical power system design and power quality. Mr. Elmassry has customized and he is a local instructor for Certified Energy Manager (CEM) course. Also, he participated in preparing & customizing Distributed Generation Certified Professional (DGCP), both courses are offered by Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) in USA. Mr. Elmassry is a Certified Environment Auditor (CEA) from EXCEL partnership, UK. Mr. Elmassry is also MENA director for the World Alliance for Decentralized Energy (WADE).

Mr. Elmassry has done a lot of consultancy work on the national and sectorial levels. He has participated in developing Egypt National CDM strategy and promotion of industrial/commercial NG-based cogeneration projects in Egypt. He participated in preparing many studies on energy/EE in commercial and industrial sectors. Also, He was the international, hired by UNDP in USA, mid term evaluator for Saudi Arabia National Energy Efficiency Project (NEEP).

Mr. Elmassry prepared a tailored training course for Egyptian bankers on Clean Development Mechanism (both on energy efficiency and renewable energy projects). He conducted massive number of energy audits in industrial and commercial plants in Egypt and other countries to identify and prepare feasibility studies on energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities. EE/RE projects includes but not limited to high efficiency lighting, high efficiency motors & drives, Cogeneration, waste heat recovery, combustion control, high efficiency insulation, energy management systems, demand management systems, PV, CSP (heating and power generation), wind farms … etc.

Mr. Elmassry started his career as a demonstrator at Ain Shams University, faculty of engineering in Cairo. He worked at EE projects funded by USAID, UNDP/GEF and DANIDA, UNEP/RISO , IFC, … etc. He worked with PA/Bechtel/Nexant at National Energy Efficiency & Environment Project (ECEP) in Egypt. He was MENA business development consultant at Energy Solution business /Cummins NG-based Power Generation, UK. Mr. Elmassry was a NEXANT consultant in developing a National Energy Efficiency Strategy for Egypt to promote for NG-based power generation. He also worked as a consultant for PA in energy efficiency projects in Egypt. Mr. Elmassry was a cogeneration director for a UNDP/GEF project.

Mr. Elmassry worked as a Senior Vice President at SCC MENA (associated company to Sindicatum Carbon Capital (SCC) in London, Hong Kong , Indonesia & Bahrain. SCC is a CDM projects developer company. He also worked as Chief Technology Officer at WorldEx in Hong Kong to develop EE/RE in commercial buildings in China.

Mr. Elmassry worked as executive director for Alternative Energy Investments in Hong Kong. In addition Mr. Elmassry was RINA’s consultant (Italian company) for validation and verification of CDM, VCS and GS projects. Currently, Mr. Elmassry is a consultant for AALBORG company in Denmark and for UNDP-Egypt to prepare Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) studies in different sectors
