The ignition must be turned OFF before installation.

1 Remove the right side shroud to gain access to the ECU. The ECU is located under the battery.

2 Unfasten the ECU hold down strap.

3 Use the supplied alcohol swab to clean the surfaces of the ECU and the Ignition Module.

4 Mount the Ignition Module on the ECU as shown using the velcro strip provided.

5 Refasten ECU hold down strap over the Ignition Module.

6 Connect the white male connector of the Ignition Module to the female expansion port of the PCIII.

7 Attach the Ignition Module’s ground wire to the negative side of the battery.

9 Route Ignition Module wiring harness with the Power Commander (PCIII) wiring harness upward along gas tank.

10 Remove the left side engine shroud and the upper fairing.

11 Disconnect one of the 6-position connectors of the PCIII from the stock wiring connector.

12 Connect the Ignition Module’s 6-position connectors in line with the 6-position connectors from the PCIII and the stock wiring.

13 The Ignition Module is connected to both the PCIII and the stock wiring harness.

14 Remove the headlight from its bracket.

15 Disconnect the white two-position crank sensor connector located on the left side of the machine beneath the headlight mounting bracket.

16 Connect the Ignition Module’stwo-position connector to the two-position connector from the crank sensor.

17 The crank sensor connects to the Ignition Module through the two-position connectors.

18 Reconnect the headlight and reinstall the engine shrouds. Your installation is complete.

19 Now that the Ignition Module is connected, your PCIII USB is able to use ignition timing maps. For more information on using the software to create custom ignition timing maps, visit www.powercommander.com and download the Power Commander 3 USB Software Guide.
