Steven Green 11W
Introduction
During this presentation you will see:1. 5 Blog options for my Rugby Blog2. A decision on which I will use3. Why I have chosen that piece of blogging
softwareMy blog is a rugby analysis blog. I have chosen to use a blog based on my prior planning and research on rugby analysis sites online.
Blog Option 1- BloggerAdvantages Disadvantages
You can link it with your Google account
It doesn’t have a range of varied templates
Its easy to use. It is hard to export an existing blog to another site.
It is perfect for HTML and embedding.
Blogger owns your blog site
It’s free! You cannot have a unique domain name
Blog posts are straightforward and simple
Blogger lacks plugins
Blog Option 2- TumblrAdvantages Disadvantages
It has a nice layout It is ideal for just visual content whereas I will have a mix of both
U can add GIF’s easily on Tumblr It’s layout isn’t very formulaic
It’s easy to have a large social pool of fellow bloggers
It’s not designed for complex HTML
You can get your blog further publicized because of reblogging
All blogs look quite similar.
You can easily put a nice background picture.
You can only really write a limited amount of words
Blog Option 3- WordpressAdvantages Disadvantages
Wordpress allows you to have a formulaic way to set out posts.
You need to learn the basics of Wordpress or else you will struggle with it.
It is very compatible Wordpress can tend to be a little bit too formal which can be good and bad.
It allows the exporting of blogs It can scatter ads all over a blog
It has a big range of widgets.
It has categories (tabs) to easily set out your work
Blog Option 4- Weebly
Advantages DisadvantagesIt is quite easy to navigate through.
It’s less formulaic than other blog sites.
It is free to make an account and that comes free of ads.
It may not be very suitable for clients and my target audience.
It is very aesthetically pleasing.
It is hard to use and is more meant for a professional blog
Weebly has modern and unique themes
It has a much more messy layout
Weebly has a professional look about it.
It isn’t as large as other blog sites meaning there will be less publicity from that.
Blog Option 5- Blog.com
Advantages Disadvantages
Very aesthetically pleasing More of a diary blog
Easy to use Unless you upgrade to premium, you miss out on the best features.
Easy to navigate through It is not as known and advanced as Blogger an Wordpress.
Blog.com has a strong community of 2 million bloggers.
It is not particularly well known.
It has a large community thus a large pool of potential clients.
Blog.com may not be around for much longer competing with large domains.
Conclusion and PlanningWhich Blogging Platform should I use?Wordpress (2nd option was clearly blogger)Why?-It offers a neat exporting tool which could prove useful-It suits my target audience-It has good mix between professional and casual blogging.
