Or tweek them in another direction for a play on a cool chocolate, add a small amount of violet like 4V or 5V…not enough to make the tone violet just a dash to flavor it in a subtle way. The violet will add a slightly different dimension (challenging for anyone else to duplicate). Ex: 45cc 3CH + 15cc 4V, 60ml Oxily 20 vol or 10 vol. Stay away from chunky or obvious highlights instead softly lift a few strategic pieces around the face and then tone them if desired with a color 1-2 levels lighter than your base color. Try the TN Mediterranean series or the Beige series. The idea is for it to be natural and soft yet striking at the same time. Or, if you are a delyTON fan …try the CL series or the CF series as your toner. Cool Chocolate Perfection! Color up for the Holidays…

Give your clients a boost for the holidays! Here’s an idea for those who “love” to be blond. The following is a recipe for a “retro blond”...think late 60’s early 70’s

Beige Blond with Creamy Icy HighlightsThe idea here is to lighten and warm up the base while toning the pre-existing highlights to a beige tone and then establishing additional fine highlights and toning them to a cool icy color. Beautiful for the winter a great pick me up for fair skin clients.

Existing: level 6 with pre-existing highlighted level 8-9 ends

Formula for Regrowth: 9C + Oxily 40 vol Apply to regrowth only. Process 50 min.

Formula for Ends: 10D + Oxily 10 vol. for last 20 min of process time. Shampoo and towel dry and just in the top rectangle center section, establish highlights using Easily Blond and your choice of Oxily developer. use fine highlights as many as you feel would look best on the client. Process to pale yellow, shampoo, and then apply delyTON demi permanent gloss to tone highlights and seal the entire color.

Formula for Toning Highlights: 15cc 9A + 15cc N (neutral/clear) 60ml delyTON Activator.Apply all over the entire head. Process 10-15 min. Rinse Shampoo and Voila!

Icy Beige Perfection!

Brunettes beware… winter is your season to ‘shine’.Update your brunette clients for winter. Maybe your client has indulged in too many highlights, too much ombre and needs some TLC. For winter a full bodied healthy color is what you’re after. Rich tones of pure cool chocolate with a hint of tobacco laced in… mmhhh…Bellisima!

For rich dark chocolate…Chocolate Series, 3CH, 4CH, 5CH, are great all on their own.

For the deepest darkest chocolate try 40cc 3CH + 20cc 2N.

Cool them off more if you desire by adding a small amount of 5C or 6C.

Ex: 45cc 5CH + 15cc 5C, 60ml Oxily 20 vol or 10 vol.

Redheads? It is your season to “spice” things up! Like in the last Color Trend Report, Copper this fall has been beautiful. But full on copper red is what I am talking about…with subtle lowlights of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Burnt Copper here we come. This recipe formula can be adjusted and achieved in almost any level from 5-9.

Start with the Root formula: The idea here is to make the regrowth formula have more depth than the midshaft. Choose a red shade as your base, whatever looks best on your clients skin tone.

I am choosing 6T as my base red.

Regrowth Formula: 40cc 6T + 20cc 6RD 60ml Oxily 20 vol. ( will give more depth )

Midshaft & Ends Formula: 30cc 6T + 30cc 7T 60ml Oxily 20 vol. ( will be slightly brighter, lighter )

Using a wet on wet technique. Take slices from the underneath nape area working forward towards the face (ear) and create low lights using 5D Oxily 10 vol.

Then, if desired use Advanced Contrast #4, #5, or #6 and apply, balayage style to select strands on the surface top. Again using the wet on wet technique to create different flecks of color. The results should be subtle again just to show the movement of the hair, yet overall bright!

Spicy Red Perfection!

From all of us at IT&LY Hairfashion we wish you a joyous holiday season and a prosperous new year.

Please send me a photo or your greatest work! I would love to see it… a “before & after” would be even better. Ya never know… it might end up on the wall of Before & Afters on the ITALYHAIRFASHION.COM web site.

Step 1On Damp hair spray Purity Design Pure Texture on the root area to create volume and Texture. Blow dry the hair with a medium barrel round brush for fullness. Tease the entire head at the roots and spray with a light amount of Purity Design Pure Definition Hair Spray. Smooth the surface with a paddle brush, be careful not to disturb the teased cushion, as this gives the needed support for the finished updo. Step 2To start the updo, begin twisting the hair up towards the crown from the nape of the neck, but pleat the hair instead to creating a french twist. Aim high towards the crown and secure the pleat with criss crossed bobby pins.

Step 3As you reach the crown, do not tuck the ends in. Take the loose ends at the crown and smooth into 2 rounded sections. Secure with bobby pins. Style bangs to the side and finish by spraying with Purity Design Pure Definition Hair Spray.
