DEFINITIONICT is generally defined as technology
functioning to support the process of conveying information and communication.
With the development of ICT, the communicator and communicant can
communicate through telephone, internet, email, satellite, television, video conference,
and the like.

1.Roles of Computers in Language LearningA. Advantages of a computer1. More interactive aid compared with other
media. 2. May act as a teacher or tutor, providing
material, guiding a student how to learn it, and giving more information and explanantion.
3. It can be a very effective and efficient reference book.
4. It can be utilized to communicate visually with students.
B. Computers and Language Learning Balleden (1984) points out that computer
technology will increasingly penetrate all areas of life, including education.
Maddison (1983) maintains that the technology of education and communication are two sides of the same coin.
Kenning (1984) clearly states that computer can be utilized to enhance language learning, and can also be used to generate examples to illustrate certain operation, or to stimulate conversation.
C. Issues regarding the change of methods of language teachingThere have so many methods ever used for
teaching the language. The best medium is in which students relate to the
source of information about the target language, together with the way in which that ‘source’ is able to respond to the student’s learning behaviour, and the way in which it can provide opportunities for students to engage in interaction.
Computer-based language instruction is assumed to be better than any other non-computer mediated language instruction method in a number of ways.
2. ICT TOOLS AND UTILISATION IN EDUCATION
Introduction:
It is generally agreed that ICT is a crucial resource in education.
Students use computers from an early age and continue to university level.
Students taught practical ICT skills that are transferable into the work place.
Advantages Using ICT in the ClassroomTeachers upload course documents so that
students misses a lesson, they can download information and do the work in their own time.
Encourages student-driven lessons, where students take responsibility for their learning.

3. CURRENT APLICATION OF ICT IN LANGUAGE LEARNING
DEFINITIONICT is generally defined as technology
functioning to support the process of conveying information and communication.
With the development of ICT, the communicator and communicant can
communicate through telephone, internet, email, satellite, television, video conference,
and the like.
ADVANTAGES According to Hartoyo, M.A., Ph.D., There are
some advantages of utilizing ICT-computer in language learning
ICT serves as the ‘media’ bridging and enabling the learning process, or event direct communicator between students and teacher although they are not present in the same room or place.
ICT can be created to enable students to learn the lessons with the guidance, instruction, information, or further explanation for specific terms merged on the program. (such as ‘tutorial’)
ICT-computer in language learning is that it can be an inseparable ‘reference book’
ICT-computer can serve as a peer for students in playing educational games, or as source of learning material, which can give illustration for verbally difficult to explain concepts as well as other interactive and attractive illustration. (If combined with other media, such as video)
Fitzpatrick and Davies (2002) outlined seven ways in which ICT is use in language learning.1.Presentation

2. Practice
Example : Listen, repeat and compare Cambridge dictionary
3. AuthoringExample : Hot Potatoes http://hotpot.uvic.ca/index.php
4. Computer-Aided Assessment (CAA)Encyclopedia on CD-ROM
5. Publishing

7. Simulations
