Vitrifrigo manufactures a large range of DC Cooling Units, specifically forcooling existing insulated boxes and compartments. The compressorsnatively run on 12 or 24 volts, but you can add an AC/DC power supply if youdesire.

Available in different configurations and cooling capacities these systemscan cool different size compartments up to a maximum of 10.6 Cu. Ft.(refrigerator version) and 3.5 Cu. Ft. (freezer version). The cooling unit andevaporator plates come precharged with R134a refrigerant. The evaporatorplates have approximately 6 ft of insulated lines with quick couplings.Precharged extension line kits are also available.

All you need to do is pick a cooling unit with matching evaporator plate andthermostat. Call Sure Marine if you need help designing a system.

Plate evaporators can be easily installed and provide a multitude of different cooling requirements, due to the ability to bendthem to fit into the refrigerated compartment. Cooling systems with boxed evaporators are recommended for all insallations where a freezer compartment is required,leaving the remainder of the box as refrigerator space. Boxed evaporators come precharged with R134a refrigerant and comewith approximately 6 feet on insulated line.Boxed evaporators with bottom piece and lids can be placed horizontally or vertically according to requirements and availablespace.

Boxed Evaporators

The Air10 evaporator uses a forced ventilation cooling system.

It is recommended for refrigerated compartments up to 7.1 Cu. Ft. andimproves internal cold distribution thanks to continuous air recirculation.

The Air10 comes precharged with R134a refrigerant and come with approxi-mately 12.5 feet on insulated line.

Cooling systems with holding plate evaporators are an efficient solution for those cases where power is not always available.Holding plates are able to “store” the necessary cold to cool the refrigerated compartment during many hours when the powersupply is lacking. Holding plate evaporators require a separate line set that is available in 4 or 6 meter lengths.

Refrigerator and Freezer thermostats must be ordered separately from any cooling unit. They include a mounting box,control knob and clip to attach the sensor probe to the evaporator plate.

Cooling Unit Thermostats

All cooling units can be upgraded with an AC/DC controlbox. Allows the cooling unit to automatically run on 100 -240 Vac 50 - 60 Hz if present.

Dual Electronic Control

Precharged line set extensions are an available option for Flat Evaporator Plates and Boxed Evaporator Plates in 1, 3, 4, 5,and 6 meter lengths. These will let you mount the cooling unit more remotely it there is not an adequate spot to locate itnear the box.Precharged line sets with built-in capillary tubes are sold separately, but required for Holding Plate Evaporators.

Hermetically sealed, they operate in a mixture ofoil and refrigerant which contributes to extremely quiet running andvery little material fatigue. All compressors used for Isothermapplications run on a three-phase electric system, just as other highefficiency electric engines.

The three-phase current is created in a small microprocessor. In this”computer” Indel Webasto Marine has been able to program anumber of functions which check and control many of the unit systems.This allows achieving the lowest possible power consumption. Thesame compressor is used for both 12 V and 24 V systems, and theelectronic unit is able to protect itself from accidental reversal of thevoltage polarity.

We can give exact power consumption figures for our range ofrefrigerators, freezers and boxes, as we know their size and quality ofinsulation. It is more difficult to quote a figure for selfinstalledrefrigeration boxes as we do not know the exact size of the box, oreven more important, the quality and thickness of the insulation materialused. The power consumption figures given for a particular volumeare therefore calculated for an insulation material of medium qualityand thickness. The Isotherm SP System uses a patented thru-hull that removes heat through the superior cooling physics of water. This method is completelyindepen dent from the air temperature inside the boat so even on the hottest days the water-cooled Isotherm SP operates consistently at anextremely high level of efficiency. Working without fans or pumps to remove the heat generated by the compressor, the SP system consumesmuch less battery power and is remarkably quiet.

The Isotherm SP unit uses the natural pumping motion of the hull to exchange heat through a special fitting that can replace the galley sinkdrain thru-hull. The flow is completely free inside the galley drain hose, so each movement of the surrounding water carries heat away into thewater. The special thru-hull fitting contains a non restricting, full flow spiral heat exchanger for cooling the heated refrigeration agent, thuscreating an extremely efficient cooling system. Even in the calmest waters, the natural physics of molecular heattransfer of water carries away heat. The ISEC kit consists of three parts: control module, temperature sensor,and potentiometer. The kit can be easily retrofitted to most refrigeratoror freezer units that use a Danfoss/Secop compressor (BD35 &50) withDC-only electronics. Isotherm’s new CRUISE Elegance line provides apreformed location in the cabinet for the temperature sensor whichfacilitates upgrade with the Smart Energy Control kit.

The sophisticated processor-based Isotherm Smart Energy Controltechnology achieves significant power consumption savings bycontinuously scanning a set of key environmental factors to determine,through advanced proprietary algorithms, the most relevant compressorspeed to maximize the performance/battery drain ratio (COP -Coefficient of Performance).

Configuration parameters for refrigerator or freezer and temperatureoffsets are set via dip switches on the module and include batteryprotection level, volume, and offset values.

The Processor-Based Module is mounted on aDanfoss / Secop DC electronics module and iscustomized to the specific operating conditionsfor each refrigerator or freezer by setting the dipswitches according to the manual.

A potentiometer adjusts operating temperature rangefor the Isotherm Smart Energy Control module. Thepotentiometer replaces your old mechanicalthermostat and can use the old thermostat‘s housingor use the housing that comes with the ISEC kit.

A dedicated air temperature sensorcontinuously measures cabinet airtemperature. This sensor replaces themechanical proble fixed to the evaporatoron your old system.

The Isotherm Smart Energy Control kit (ISEC) not only makes your fridge intelligent but also allows the storage of a significant amount of coldenergy in the loaded food and drinks. The Smart Energy Control reduces the cabinet temperature more than a conventional fridge withoutfreezing the food. The temperature is continuously monitored via an air sensor in the cabinet. Cold energy is quickly generated by running thecompressor at the highest rate of speed when a power surplus is available - such as when an engine is running or when connected to a chargingsystem. The cold that is stored in the food and beverages acts like a holding plate, keeping fridge temperatures lower for a longer period of time,causing the compressor to run less. When the ISEC microprocessor senses the fridge is running on battery alone, it runs the compressor at theslowest rate of speed to maintain proper temperatures. The combination of stored energy and variable compressor speeds results in a significantenergy savings.
