VME SOCIETY MANAGED INSTITUTIONS

Editor’s Note

EXCELLENCE Growth – A Multifaceted phenomenon

Islamiah College has become the epicenter of higher studies and research. In the eleventh convocation of Thiruvalluvar University eighteen of our staff members and scholars were awarded doctorates epitomizing the quantum of research in our campus.

Apart from academic milestones, our authorities have a great concern over the physique and fitness of the students and staff members. Recently, the most modern swimming pool has been constructed with one crore fund from UGC and been kept open for the use of the students and staff members. A State-of-the art gymnasium is on the anvil with the outlay of 1.5 crores.

Teaching, Training and placements are the watchwords of our esteemed institution. Employment opportunities galore in our campus with lot of flagship companies in the caliber of Wipro, HCL, Tech Mahindra, Malladi Pharmaceuticals etc conduct campus interviews and online examinations. More than hundred students of various departments have been recruited through pooled campus drive. The seminars, symposia, workshops and the training programmes conducted inside the campus take our students to the advanced level of scholarship and appreciably augment their level of employability.

In addition to the Education and Employment our institution inculcate the social responsibilities among the students. The blood donation camps, tree plantations and campus cleaning are carried out by our student themselves. Our staff members along with the students reach out to the doorstep of the downtrodden villagers to host medical camps, awareness programmes etc. Our Staff members and students have received several awards and prizes from the state government and NGOs for their academic and social excellence.

Our college is all set to face the external audit. Our achievements, records, results and future plans have been very well organized in files to be displayed to the external auditors.

Dr. S. Raja Mohamed Kamil

IC NEWSLETTER | JUNE 2015 - DEC 2015

Secretary’s Message

Governance is an important factor that determines the quality of higher education institutions. Quality educational governance requires cooperation and coordination from the internal and external stakeholders of the institution. Cooperation between the Principal and Teachers of the college is an internal component that ensures the growth, success and survival of the educational institution. Coordination between the Secretary of the College and the Committee members of Society / Trust is an external component, which strengthen the quality conscience among the members of staff and students. Quality of students depends on quality governance of the institution, which will motivate the teaching community who play a vital role in building of entire education system. No doubt that the institution has realized not only the quality education but also the ethical values within the span of autonomy. I convey my thanks to UGC and NAAC for providing constant guidelines to improve the quality of education throughout the nation. This newsletter is also a piece of work that showcase of our academic, research and social activities which not only justify our reaccreditation with ‘A’ grade but also validate the grant of autonomy. I take this opportunity to appeal all the stakeholders of this institution especially the management, teachers and students to retain the quality conscience in every act of growth and extent your support to this century old college.

L. M. Muneer Ahmed

Principal’s Message

Dear readers we are in the beginning of another academic year with full vigor to implement the UGC’s new guidelines on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). After a yearlong deliberation on this issue, by the grace of Almighty, we are implementing the new CBCS curricula this year. UGC has introduced the CBCS to keep pace with the developments in higher education in the context of globalization and liberalization. CBCS aims at making students learn at their own pace, to choose electives from a wide range, undergo additional courses etc. It provides a room for transfer of credits, promote students mobility, show the avenues for collaboration and exchange of faculty and bridge the gap between professional and liberal education. My dear teachers and students, we have an opportunity to experiment on our own ideas and techniques on CBCS. The autonomy and accountability that we have learned within the span of 5 years will surely guide us the spirit of CBCS and take us to greater heights on proper implementation. Of course, the 22nd issue of this newsletter contains a speck of our growth towards the realization of these basic ideas. I take this opportunity to appeal all the stakeholders of this institution especially the teachers and students to make up your mind ready to experiment on new concepts in education. This mindset itself will blossom the autonomy and spread the fragrance of quality education throughout the nation. I take this opportunity to appeal the management to continue to provide strength and support, facilities and infrastructure for our experimentation on new channel to education
