Evaluation of YourPlay
• The Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing commissioned an independent evaluation of
the YourPlay scheme in August 2014.
• This evaluation is currently being undertaken, with a final report due to the department
in November 2017.
• The South Australian Centre for Economic Studies (SACES) has been commissioned
to undertake the evaluation, based upon their submission to a competitive tender
process
• The evaluation will answer the following six key questions:
– Has the YourPlay scheme been implemented as expected?
– What (if any) areas of the system require improvement to reach the scheme’s
expected outcomes?
– To what extent has the introduction of YourPlay minimised harm from gambling on
electronic gaming machines?
– To what extent has the introduction of YourPlay assisted players of electronic
gaming machines to improve control over their own gambling?
– What have been the costs and effects (outcomes) of the introduction of YourPlay?
– Have there been any unintended consequences (either positive or negative) as a
result of implementing YourPlay?
