address. Those names are listed our website. Subsequent
journals will be posted to them only after they clarify their

As part of Green Earth initiative members who are happy
with soft copy of our News Letter sent by e-mail, can send a mail

Dear IADVL Members,
I am happy to note that IADVL Tamil Nadu will bring out important
things about IADVL for circulation. This is really an effective step in
communications with State Members.I congratulate IADVL TN EC
under the dynamic leadership of President, Dr.Rajesh Rajagopalan
and Secretary, Dr. Karthick Prabhu.
The EC IADVL 2014 brings in several new initiatives including the
already successfully conducted Research Methodology Workshops,
a wonderful project initiated by our very able and hands-on
President, Dr Deepak Parikh at Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and
New Delhi. Dr Venkataram Mysore, our President-Elect has initiating
the new Practice Management Cell and Media Cell of IADVL. And,
yours truly is very excited by the newly launched first time ever, IADVL
Resident Welfare Program and the launch of the first time newletter
by PGs called “Resi-DREAM” created by IADVL Provisional Life
Members,the postgraduates entirely as well as the Residents IADVL
Facebook Group!The focus is also on improving State-Centre
Liasions and e-voting. And of course we have ventured to give the
IADVL Website a new look! We again invite you to check out
important announcements on our website and become members of
DVL Trust! Please do convert your PLM number to LM once you have
completed PG and do become IADVL Members! Please do help me in
our endeavours.

Introduction :
Aims and objectives of the scheme :
Eligibility of the members :
IADVL has launched a mutual benefit scheme
coupled with professional legal protection in 2011 and named it
DVL welfare trust. It is one of the important financial benefit
scheme aimed at securing financial security for the family
members of our association. The Executive committee of IADVL
urges all its members to join this mutual benefit scheme to make it
a successful initiative of IADVL. The details of this welfare scheme
are as follows:
DERMATOLIGISTS VENEREOLOGISTS & LEPROLOGISTS
WELFARE TRUST (DVL trust) has been established for the benefit of
members of IADVL. The trust has been registered at Vadodara. DVL
Welfare Trust is by IADVL, of IADVL and for IADVL ites”.
1) To provide financial assistance to the family of a member of
this scheme in the event of his/her death.
2) To inculcate a habit of savings among the members for their
mutual benefit.
3) An option to provide comprehensive indemnity cover in the
event of litigant situations arising out of alleged professional
negligence by the members.
4) To educate the members, including clinic staff, to prevent any
litigant situation and to guide them, how to deal with it in the
event of such a situation.
Any life member of IADVL, irrespective of age is eligible to
become a Regular Member of the scheme. Family members of Life
members of IADVL can also join the scheme as Beneficiary
Members. Please note that separate forms need to be filled for
each member of a family.
2.Mutual benefit scheme of IADVL – The DVL trust

Details of one time Admission fees :
1. Admission Fees (as per age –given below).
2. Annual Membership Fees Rs. 450. [ for the year 2014-2015]
3. Advance Fraternity Contribution (AFC) Rs.1,500 (Rs Fifteen
hundred only) a minimum amount kept with DVL trust towards
members future fraternity contributions.
Member can deposit additional amount of his choice as deposit
for future annual contribution. The 4% interest will be credited on
deposit amount.
The Admission Fees payable shall be based on age in years of
the proposed member or their family member who likes to join the
scheme, as follows:
a) Upto the age of 10 Years Rs. 1000
b) 11 of 20 Years Rs. 1500
c) 21 of 30 Years Rs. 2000
d) 31 of 40 Years Rs. 3000
e) 41 of 50 Years Rs. 4000
f) 51 of 60 Years Rs. 5000
g) 61 of 70 Years Rs. 7000
h) above 70 Years Rs. 8000
Optional Legal fees for professional indemnity For life members
of IADVL who volunteer to have professional legal cover, this option
is available. However, they necessarily have to be members of DVL
trust as well. Annual legal fee is based as per type of Dermatology
practice: a) The Consultant with only office practice will have to pay
Rs. 1000/- per year; (b) The consultant with practice of Dermato
surgery will have to pay Rs. 2000/- per year; (C) The consultant with
practice of cosmetic, laser & other procedures will have to pay Rs.
3000/- per year; to cover these procedural events or litigations.

The indemnity coverage will be Rs. 7,00,000 (Rupees seven
lakhs) per case and Rs. 15,00,000 (Rupees Fifteen lakhs only)
aggregate per year. If member wishes, the indemnity coverage can
be doubled by paying double the annual legal fees.
[a] Annual membership fee of Rs. 450/- (with increment of Rs.
50/- every year). and [b] Fraternity contribution Rs. 500 x N,
where N = No. of Death of members)
Plus, Optional professional indemnity annual legal fees, to be
paid by those members who opt for professional indemnity.
1) Social security to family members: Note: Financial benefits
will start after ONE year of joining the scheme. Nominee will get Rs.
450 x N, where N = No. of members of DVL trust. In other words,
when more IADVL members join this scheme, more fraternity
benefit for members families. 2). Professional legal protection,
when applicable, for those members opting for it: Legal help is
extended in all types of cases like civil, criminal, labour & consumer
redressal fora.
Please note that DVL trust welfare Scheme is new ongoing
scheme initiated by IADVL for the benefit of its members. Periodic
modifications and improvements in the scheme to make it more
member friendly are expected to take place from time to time.

2. Activities of TTK Chapter of IADVL TN Branch
Regular Quarterly Scientific meetings were held in Tirunelveli
Tuticorin and Nagercoil in their respective medical colleges .
Leucoderma Day was observed in a Grand manner with a
day long awareness programme, patient interaction, Magic show,
Medical and Nursing Elocution competitions, Human Chain, rally at
Kanyakumari Govt Medical College in May. The programme was
coordinated by SUN TV News reader Mr Sivakumar, Dean
Dr. Gunsingh. Rotary Governor Nominee & Past President National
IMA Dr.Vijayakumar, Rotary Clubs West and Golden Flowers
Nagercoil, Dr. AJS. Pravin, President Elect IADVL TN branch and
members of Leucoderma Awareness Movement, Dept.
DermatoVenerology KGMCH, Dermaclub members of
Kanyakumari District and Rotarians. This event was well covered by
Media - TV and News Papers in the District and all over Tamilnadu .

As it is implemented in IADVL Tamilnadu all senior citizens and
senior professors should be exempted from the registration in
Dermacons, Dermazones and Cuticons so that we are the
pathfinders for this very important proposal which I am very sure
will be welcomed by all members of IADVL.
All senior Professors should be included in the panel
discussions of the IADVL conferences.
One senior Professor of the regional IADVL’s choice should be
included in IADVL inspection team coming for the approval of the
site selected for the conferences so that there will be no adverse
comments about the site approvals.
Please change the timing of AGBM to evening 4 pm Please insist
all the office bearers to compulsorily present in AGBM-EC, CC
INCLUDING Preliminary meeting of all new office bearers in the
morning with the new president. To divide into three divisions
North, Central and South for conducting academic activities to
conduct Mock PG exam in new centres to make a proper evaluation
and let the PG climate fill in.
Conduct of MID Cuticon in Kanyakumari in October Print and
Distribute a new Members list of TN Set up Media cell and
Medicolegal cellMake a fight for ban on topical steroid abuse ,to
stop prescription of steroid by non medico or as OTC drug.
Print a guidelines for use for CRRIs and PG of management of
Dermatovenerological diseases IADVL TTK branch.

During the Annual General Body Meeting of the Chennai City
Chapter of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists &
Leprologists TN Branch held on 28th July 2013, it was proposed to
host DERMACON at Chennai and CCC of IADVL TN branch wishes to
make a bid for the same. The same was passed in the Annual
General Body Meeting of the Indian Association of Dermatologists,
Venereologists & Leprologists TN Branch held on 19 October 2013
at Tuticorin and minuted that Chennai City Chapter of IADVL TN
branch would bid for DERMACON 2018 and 2019 in the event of
Coimbatore winning the bid for 2016
In continuation to the above resolutions, we, the Chennai City
Chapter of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists &
Leprologists TN Branch send our proposal to bid for hosting
DERMACON at Chennai in the year 2018 / 2019. The following
names were proposed by the AGBM of Chennai City Chapter of
Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists
TN Branch for conducting DERMACON 2018.

IADVL members from all states of India are invited to submit research
proposals in the following fields:
These projects may be based on laboratory studies, clinical
research, epidemiology research or quality of life studies.
The projects will have to be completed within one year. For
multicentric projects, the principal investigator will be responsible for its
satisfactory completion. The applications will be blinded and evaluated
by a jury consisting of IADVL and L'Oréal scientists and the grants will be
announced during the 43 DERMACON in Mangalore in February, 2015.
The amount of the Grant is Rs. 20 lakhs. Selected applicants will need to
obtain ethical clearance from the local project review board before the
funds are disbursed.
