Differential Assembly -Removal-
NOTE: If it is necessary to service the differential pinion shaft or differential assembly, it is recommended that the transmission be removed from the combine for service.
4-52
1. In order to remove the differential assembly, it is necessary to first remove the R. H. and L. H. brake assemblies and housings. Removal is the same for both sides as follows:
(a) Remove the capscrews in the brake housing cover and remove the cover.
(b) Slide the brake assembly parts out of the brake housing. Keep the parts in correct order for reassembly.
1. Brake housing cover
1. Middle disc assembly 2. Intermediate disc 3. Actuating disc assembly

TROUBLESHOOTI NG -SED GRAIN LOSS MONITOR SYSTEM-
1. Initial Self Test
The sensor selector switch serves as an ON/OFF switch, and also selects sensors to be monitored. Turn the combine key switch to ON. Turn the sensor selector switch from OFF to BOTH. The four sensor lamps should come on in sequence. The meter should increase to maximum reading. When the meter reaches the blue area of the scale, the blue OVERLOAD lamp should come on. All lamps should then go out and the meter reading should return to zero. This self-test feature takes place automatically when the grain loss monitor is turned on, and indicates the control unit is functional.
If the control unit passes INITIAL SELF TEST, proceed to OPERATIONAL TEST.
If the control unit fails INITIAL SELF TEST, a faulty control unit is suspected. Refer to the flow chart for further test procedures.
2. Operational Test
A. Set the grain sensitivity to the center position for the grain to be used for this test.
B. Turn the METER SET past mid-scale (position 7 or 8).
10-119
NOTE 1: Assistance will be required to perform step C.
NOTE 2: Only grain should be used in step C. The circuitry of the grain loss monitor may not respond to other objects, such as stones, pencils or tools.
C. Drop a grain on one of the sensors from a height of 152 to 254 mm (6-10 inches). The sensor lamp for that sensor should light and the meter should indicate a loss.
Repeat step C for each sensor.
D. If each of the sensor lamps on the meter function normally, the monitor is serviceable and needs only to be adjusted for field conditions. Adjust the monitor as follows:
1. Turn the Sensor Selector to BOTH, and Grain Sensitivity to the center pOSition on the dial for the grain being harvested.
2. Adjust the combine in the normal manner. Harvest a typical stand of the crop on level ground, selecting a ground speed which is acceptable to you, and adjusting the combine so that grain loss through the combine is at an acceptable level.
