Since Smithcos' founding in 1952, Smithco has beenknown as a premier manufacturer and full service provider of air-cooledheat exchangers to the refining, gas processing, gas transmission,petrochemical, utilities and other heavy industries. Amercool is a 15year old company that supplies air-cooled heat exchangers to thepower generation and gas compression markets. But in today’saggressive business climate, standing on reputation is not enough.Their technologies and procedures underscore their commitment toexcellence, product quality, engineering, service, and customersatisfaction. Full-service engineering, fabrication, and inspectionof air-cooled heat exchangers are Smithco’s exclusive activities.The company replaced MAX100 power supplies on their cuttingtable with Powermax1650s and in the words of Metal Servicesmanagement, “The results have been amazing”.

Some of the key areas of improvement were a 12 percent increasein sheet metal assembly efficiency with no other changes to theirprocess. In addition, this installation provided dramatic air quality improvementin the shop due to reduced smoke, creating a more positive environmentand increasing productivity.
