Extended Health Coverage
• 100% Husky paid
• Survivor Benefits – 24 months
• What follows is a brief overview. Please refer to the Retiree Benefits Summary on
the myBenefits site under the Learn tab for more details.
• Prescription Drugs:
• Annual Deductible: $35 Single / $70 Family
• 80% Reimbursement
• 100% Diabetic Supplies when prescribed by a physician
• Additional 10% when filled at Costco Pharmacy
• $10 Dispensing fee maximum (~ $5 dispensing fee at Costco)

• $85 / hour; $1,000 maximum benefit plan year
• Physiotherapist*
• Chiropractor
• Massage Therapist

• $200 maximum per practitioner every benefit plan year ($30 per visit
maximum, with the exception of Physiotherapist)
* Physician’s referral required

Ambulance:
• 100% ground ambulance to a hospital or urgent care centre
Hospital Accommodation:
• $80 maximum per day private or semi-private hospital
• Chronic Care - $25 per day for a maximum of 120 days
Medical Supplies and Services:
• $200 prescribed orthopedic shoes every benefit plan year
• $200 for prescribed and custom made orthotics every benefit plan year
• $5,000 for private-duty nursing every benefit plan year
• $1,000 lifetime for smoking cessation products

Emergency Out-of-Province or Country Medical Coverage
• 100% eligible expenses up to 180 days per trip per person
• Lifetime maximum of $1,000,000 per person
• Covers medical services & supplies, above provincial health care coverage in the
event of an emergency, when:
• Patient is more than 500 km from home inside Canada, or
• Outside of Canada
• Includes Global Medical Assistance services, such as:
• Medical evacuation
• Family member travel assistance, assisting unattended children
• Transportation reimbursement
• Admission advance assistance

Understanding your Out-of-Country Emergency Medical Coverage
• Your Out-of-Country Emergency Medical Coverage is designed to provide
benefits in the event of a medical emergency for you and your eligible
dependents while traveling temporarily outside Canada. Some examples of what
might be considered a medical emergency include:
• An injury
• A medical condition that was not identified or being treated prior to
departure
• An unexpected and unforeseen acute episode of a previously identified
medical condition that was stable and controlled 90 days prior to your
date of departure
• Be sure your travel companions know the numbers to call in the event of an
emergency.

Benefit plan year deductible: $25 single / $50 family coverage
Basic Services:
• 70% Diagnostic & Preventive procedures
• Recall exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments & x-rays limited to once per
benefit plan year
• 50% Minor Restorative (fillings, minor extractions), periodontal & endodontic
Major Restorative Services:
• 50% for Bridges, Dentures, Crowns, Inlays, Onlays (limitations apply)
Basic and Major Restorative Services have a
combined benefit year maximum of $1,000 per person..

• Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
