TREASURE HUNT

When a child becomes a Christian they have everything everyone else has - they have

the same Holy Spirit as any adult and so therefore are capable of just as much - if not

more! We need to guide them in unleashing the power of the Holy Spirit that‘s in them in

order to see our kids on fire for Jesus and doing things to set those around them on fire!

This series focuses on the prophetic. We want the kids to understand that the Holy

Spirit is in them for their benefit and He is on them for the benefit of others. We want

them to find the treasure in others that God sees!

Hearing from God and receiving prophetic words and pictures for themselves and for

others needs to become as natural as hearing from a parent or a leader. It needs to

become a culture in our kids. We want to see our kids changing their homes and their

schools.

We want our kids to be ready for God to speak at any time - even during the routine of

their every day lives at school or at home or wherever they are!

God wants to use them and we need them to know that God does not disqualify anyone

from hearing His voice or receiving prophetic words or pictures. It‘s entirely up to us

whether or not we are willing to listen.

We need to teach them how and the only way we will be able to is if we are a living

example. We need to be bringing prophetic words for our kids every week and modeling

what a life of hearing and listening to God looks like. They‘re not going to desire

something they can‘t see and so we need to show them and introduce them to the

power of the Holy Spirit and tell them that Jesus wants to use them and He wants to talk

to them… all the time!!!

Week 1

Story: Jesus and the Samaritan woman - John 4:1-18

Media:

Characters: Narrator, Jesus, Samarian woman, a few kids

Narrator: Hey everyone! Are you ready to go back a couple thousand years? You know what

the amazing thing is? This story is so old… like ancient… dusty… your grandparents have

nothing on it… and yet, it is still super relevant for us today - in simpler terms, that means that

this story has massive meaning for us even today!

Right, we are going to be taking a trip to a place called Samaria - can everyone say Samaria?

(kids echo) Our location is going to be at a well - I need a well! (get a few kids to be the well on

stage).

Okay, I think we are ready. Here‘s how the story goes…

One day, Jesus had to pass through this town called Samaria on His way to Galilee (Jesus

enters stage as if walking on a journey). Obviously there was no public transport and so he had

to use his ―Two Series‖… his legs in other words! And as one would, he got tired and needed a

break and stopped at this well. (Enter Samarian woman)

While He was there, a woman from Samaria came to the well to fetch some water - that‘s what

well‘s were for in case you forgot - and while she was there Jesus asked her for some water.

Jesus: Hi

Woman: Hello… (very wearily)

Jesus: Could you please pour me a drink of your water?

Narrator: FREEZE! (All characters freeze)

You see, there was some confusion here from the woman‘s side… Jesus was a Jew and this

woman was not. Back in those days, Jews did not mix with anyone who was not a Jew; they

were called Gentiles.

Page 3: mmmmmmmmmmmstatic.ncfchurch.org.za/childrenschurch/resources/TREASURE HUNT.… · mmmmmmmmmmm . Week 1 Story: Jesus and the Samaritan woman - John 4:1-18 Media: Characters: Narrator,

Woman: What? You..you are a Jew and I am a Samaritan. How can you ask me for a drink?

Narrator: Problem – how would Jesus be able to tell this lady who He was and make her

understand that she needed to believe in him? He needed something special.

Remember, Jesus was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and He needed that now.

Jesus: Go, call your husband and come back.

Woman: I do not have a husband

Narrator: Now we are going to see that power of the Holy Spirit. He is going to whisper

something in Jesus ear.

Jesus: (Just for a moment He listens) You are right. You have had five different husbands and

the man you have now is not your husband.

Narrator: Wow! How did Jesus know that? The woman was absolutely gob smacked. She now

knew that Jesus was not just an ordinary person. As they continued their conversation she got

saved and eventually went and brought the whole village to Jesus and they got saved. A

phenomenal story but the key was when Jesus heard from the Holy Spirit.

MC’s (very important)

You need to wrap this up. Please come prayed up yourself and well prepared to lead this

meeting. As you land this—point to the fact that we receive power when the Holy Spirit come

on us (Acts 1:8) and then God uses us to touch other people in super natural ways. But it so

that people come to Jesus, get saved and grow in faith in Jesus.

Week 2

Story: Jesus and Ananias - Acts 9:10-19

Media:

Characters: Ananias, Narrator, Voice

Scene 1

Saul is busy speaking to one of the high priests. He is angry and you can hear from his tone that

he means business and not messing around…

Saul: If anyone is found to be worshipping Jesus Christ in any form, I will have them brutally

murdered without question. I am not afraid to go to extreme measures and nothing you can do

will stop me. I am not happy with the way the Gospel has been spreading and I will do whatever

it takes to put a stop to it…

Narrator: That was Saul. Saul hated Christians and he swore to kill anyone he came across

that was a Christian. He was brutal and ruthless - definitely not the guy you would want to hang

out with.

(Saul exits stage briefly in order to enter again)

Narrator: Now one day Saul needed to go to a place called Damascus to carry out his threats

against the Christians there. However, his plans changed rather quick when all of a sudden a

bright light from heaven shone all around him.

Saul: What is going here?? Ah! My eyes!

Narrator: As if that wasn‘t bad enough, next moment he hears a voice saying,

Voice: Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?

Saul: Who are you?

Voice: I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting by killing all the Christians. Go into the city and

when you are there you will be told what to do.

Page 5: mmmmmmmmmmmstatic.ncfchurch.org.za/childrenschurch/resources/TREASURE HUNT.… · mmmmmmmmmmm . Week 1 Story: Jesus and the Samaritan woman - John 4:1-18 Media: Characters: Narrator,

Narrator: Now in Damascus itself, was a guy by the name of Ananias. (pause to emphasize)

The Lord spoke to Ananais (pause) and told him in a vision to go to the house of Judas and

look for Saul - the same guy that God had just spoken to. God told Ananias that he had spoken

to Saul too and Saul would be expecting Ananias to come to him and lay hands on him so that

he would regain his sight.

Narrator: Let‘s just pause there for a minute… do you remember the kind of guy Saul is?? And

now God is asking innocent Ananias to go lay hands on Saul…. Saul... of all people! This guy is

brutal and rough! People run in the opposite direction when they see this guy!

Ananias: Lord, I‘ve heard about this man, he can literally arrest anyone he finds to be a

Christian..

Narrator: But God had a plan and said to Ananias

Voice: Ananias, Saul is going to play a big part in my plan. I am going to use him to spread the

Gospel to all of Israel. I‘m going to show him how much he must suffer for the sake of My Name.

Narrator: And so, with that said, Ananias got up and left to go to the house of Judas. He prayed

for Saul, Saul‘s eyesight was restored, Saul got baptized and from then on Saul preached the

gospel of Jesus.

In closing, not only did Saul preach about Jesus, he is the guy that wrote half of the New

Testament.

God spoke to Ananias and told him what to do. He listened to God and was obedient. He heard

clearly when God spoke and responded immediately. He had learnt to hear God‘s voice and so

he was able to trust it. Ananias was just a normal guy but God used him in a powerful way.

Week 3

Story: Peter and John - Acts 3:1-10

Media:

Characters: Facilitator (MC), Peter, John, lame man, kids.

MC: (Hold Bible open, read Acts 3:3) Let us read from Acts 3:3.

One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time prayer—at three in the

afternoon…..

Everyone stop for a moment—this says it was just a normal day and they were just doing what

they normally do. Like you going to school, or taking your lunch out to eat with your friends at

break time. A normal day.

Lets continue….Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate…..

Get kids to carry him on and lay him at the temple gates. Have a few more kids walk past him

as if they are going into the temple. The lame man needs to beg for money or food from every

kid who walks past. Remember, he’s lame, so he needs to get creative. Have fun with this.

After a few kids have walked past, enter Peter and John who are going through the temple

gates too. They too get stopped by the lame man…

Man: Please can you give me some money. I have nothing.

Peter: I‘m sorry, but look at us, we do not have silver or gold or anything like that to give you,

but I do have something else I can give you.

Man: What else could you give me? (Confused)

Peter: In the name of Jesus, rise up and walk.

Peter takes the lame man by his hand and pulls him to his feet.

Man: No ways! I can feel my legs and my feet! This is crazy! I can stand… I can walk… I can

jump! I can run around! And dance!

Page 7: mmmmmmmmmmmstatic.ncfchurch.org.za/childrenschurch/resources/TREASURE HUNT.… · mmmmmmmmmmm . Week 1 Story: Jesus and the Samaritan woman - John 4:1-18 Media: Characters: Narrator,

He runs around leaping and jumping and doing all sorts of things he couldn’t do before. Once

again, go crazy with this and get your leader playing the

lame man to do cartwheels across stage, jump around through the kids, whatever!!

He continues to dance around on stage.

Man: Thank you! Thank you! Praise Jesus for healing me!!!

MC: The coolest thing about this story is that for Peter and John it was just an ordinary day and

yet God used them in such a massive way. They were going about their usual routine and God

still broke in and did something amazing to show this lame man His love.

Even though they had performed this amazing miracle, they knew that it was only through the

power of the Holy Spirit that they were able to do it. You see, when we get saved, this same

power is in us and God can use us just as He used Peter and John. We just need to be willing

and want to be used by Him.

The lame man‘s life changed forever when he encountered Jesus that day. Because Peter and

John were obedient, the lame man was healed and had come to know the love of Jesus. We

need to realize that we play a massive role in showing the love of Jesus to those around us.

God has called us to go out and love on others. This lame man was healed and encouraged

and given a new chance at life all because Peter and John understood the call on their lives as

children of God.

Week 4

Story: Peter and Cornelius - Acts 10:9-20

Media:

Characters: Narrator, Cornelius, Peter, kids.

Narrator: In a place called Caesarea there lived a man named Cornelius. Now he was a guy

who was on fire for God! One day, God showed him a vision. An angel told him that he was to

send some of his men to Joppa to find a guy named Peter and bring him back to him. And so,

Cornelius called his men and told them what the angel had instructed him to do.

(Get two kids to be these men)

Cornelius: Right men, I have just received a vision from God and I need you to go to Joppa and

bring back a man by the name of Peter.

(The two men can walk around the room as if on their journey to Peter)

Narrator: Now, the next day while the men were on their journey, Peter got a vision from God

too.

(Have Peter on stage sitting on a table or something higher up to suggest a rooftop)

Narrator: Peter was sitting on the rooftop of the house as this is where he would escape all the

noise and busyness and go pray. He was very hungry at the time but while he was waiting for

the food to be prepared, he fell into a deep sleep where God showed him the vision.

Narrator: He saw the heavens opening up and this massive sheet came down that covered the

earth. In it were all types of animals and reptiles an birds and a voice said to Peter to ―Rise up

and eat.‖ In the vision Peter told God that he couldn‘t just eat any of those animals because

some of them were unclean. Back in that time there were certain animals that were seen as

being unholy and people were not allowed to eat them.

But God told Peter that God has made all the animals and therefore nothing is unclean. This

happened three times until the sheet with the animals were taken back up to heaven.

Page 9: mmmmmmmmmmmstatic.ncfchurch.org.za/childrenschurch/resources/TREASURE HUNT.… · mmmmmmmmmmm . Week 1 Story: Jesus and the Samaritan woman - John 4:1-18 Media: Characters: Narrator,

Narrator: Peter woke up and was quite confused… For good reason! Shame, the poor guy was

starving and God used food to explain something to him. Shortly after waking up the men who

were sent by Cornelius had arrived at the house where Peter was staying. Before Peter heard

them knock God told him there were three men at the door. And so Peter came down from the

roof and went to meet the men.

(Peter opens the door, greets them and welcomes them)

Narrator: God used the vision as an example to show Peter what he would do. Remember,

Jews and gentiles did not mix. Just like Peter had said certain foods were unclean; Gentiles

were seen as unclean too. But God used the food example to show Peter that no man was

unclean either. The three men who came to Peter to ask him to come back with them were

Gentiles and they were going to be asking him to go back with them to preach to more Gentiles.

God had to use an example that Peter would understand and be able to relate to so that he

would understand the plans God had for him.

God the Holy Spirit had caught Peter‘s attention and sent Peter. What happened there?

Narrator: When Peter arrived at Cornelius‘ house he immediately started telling them about

Jesus.

(Peter walks to the side of the stage. Here Cornelius and his three men can sit and listen—just

give short snippets of the gospel (mime and speak) and end with them getting saved.)

Peter: and he was born in a stable ….he never sinned… and then they nailed him to a

cross….he died…..BUT 3 days later he rose from the dead….would you like to receive Jesus as

your Saviour?

(Cornelius and friends bow heads and Peter can acts as if praying)

MC: God used the Holy Spirit to give Peter a vision so he could go and take the gospel to

Cornelius. And there Peter told them about Jesus, and they got saved. Today God still uses

the Holy Spirit to speak to us and use us. But in the same way as with Peter, it always points to

Jesus

(MC can develop this a little more if wants to!)

Remember: IT POINTS TO JESUS

BIG GROUP GAMES

WEEK 1

Goal: Drop your coins in the milk carton.

What you need: 50 coins, 2x Chairs, 2x 2L Milk Cartons

1. Select four volunteers (2 per team). Place the two chairs next to each other with the

chair backs facing the audience. Then place the milk cartons behind each chair. Give

each team 25 coins.

2. Each person puts their knees on the chairs (facing the back of the chairs) and tries to

drop as many coins into their milk cartons as possible. You cannot drop the coins below

the height of the chairs‘ backs.

3. Each coin dropped into the carton scores the team a point.

4. Everyone has 2 minutes to get as many coins in as possible - allow each person in

the team to try for a minute and then switch.

WEEK 2

Goal: Guess the zoomed in object!

What you need: Power point slide, List of items

1. Divide your group into 5-6 smaller groups (try mix the age groups).

2. Show one slide at a time and have teams try guess what the objects are.

3. If they can‘t get it you can go to the next slide which is more zoomed out - but

obviously the more help you give them, the less points they score. The first ―zoomed‖

slide is worth 5 points, the second ―zoomed out‖ slide is 4 points, the third ―zoomed out‖

slide is 3 points, and the fourth ―zoomed out‖ slide is worth only 1 point. Each team tries

to identify the object as soon as possible, to get the maximum amount of points.

4. As soon as the group thinks they know what the object is, they have to raise their

hand and give you the answer. Shouted out answers won‘t be taken into consideration.

5. The team with the most points wins the game.

Page 11: mmmmmmmmmmmstatic.ncfchurch.org.za/childrenschurch/resources/TREASURE HUNT.… · mmmmmmmmmmm . Week 1 Story: Jesus and the Samaritan woman - John 4:1-18 Media: Characters: Narrator,

WEEK 3

What You Need:

-Smarties

-A big bowl for the smarties

-2 dice

-straws

-1 cup per team

1. Select 4 volunteers - 2 per team (One will suck the smarties up and the other one will

throw the dice)

2. Pour the smarties into the bowl

3.Give each volunteer a straw and a cup

4. Have one team start by rolling the dice. The first team to roll a 6 gets to try suck a

smartie out the bowl.

5. Keep passing the dice between the 2 players and everytime a team rolls a 6 they get

to suck a smartie out the bowl.

6. Give the teams 3 minutes to see how many smarties they can get.

WEEK 4

Goal: To teach the children to learn to listen and follow God's voice, even when other

voices are calling.

What you need: Two blindfolds, Chairs

1. Arrange the chairs like an obstacle course within the room. Split everyone into two

equally numbered teams. Ask for one volunteer from each team to go first.

2. Explain that the object of the game is to lead the volunteers to the end of the room

using only their voices. The members of the team can walk alongside the volunteer and

provide directions. However, the opposing team can also try to trick the other volunteer

by giving false directions. The volunteer that reaches the end of the room the first wins a

point for their team.

Blindfold the two volunteers. Spin the volunteers two or three times and start the game.

Have the group members tell their volunteers instructions.

4. Once the round is over, ask for another volunteer from each team to go next. See

how many people from each team can complete the obstacle course in 8 minutes.

Talk About It

God wants to speak to YOU!!!

1. He will speak to you NO MATTER who you are.

Jesus was a Jew, and Jews almost NEVER spoke to Samaritans. And

what made it worse was that this Samaritan was a woman. Back in

Jesus‘ day, the Jewish teachers did not allow Jewish men to speak to

women in public. By speaking to this Samaritan woman, Jesus proved

He was different! Jesus didn‘t care, He loved ALL people and wanted

all people to be saved. He didn‘t care what people would think.

-Do you know Jesus loves you?

-Do you know He wants to speak to you?

-Do you listen when He speaks to you?

2. NOTHING would make God not want to speak to you

-Do you know that Jesus wants to speak to you?

-Do you know that no matter what you do - even if you misbehave - He

still wants to speak to you?

3. He wants to use YOU to speak to others for Him.

It is our mission to tell our friends and everyone that we know about

Jesus! People need to see that we love Jesus by the way we act. We

can even ask God to speak to us for other people. Maybe we see

someone who is sad and we‘re not sure what to say to them… the

cool thing is that we can ask God what he wants to tell them!

-Do you know that God can use you to speak to other people for him?

-Are you excited about this?

4. We need to be READY for GOD MOMENTS.

The Samaritan woman was just going about her day like any other

day; there was nothing special or different about it… until Jesus met

with her! It was unexpected and yet Jesus used her to save her entire

city!

-Are you ready and listening for when Jesus wants to speak to you?

you are?

*Throughout the next few weeks,

we need to make hearing from God

exciting!! We need to get the kids

pumped for it and tell them how

awesome it is when God talks to us

and shows us things. The best

thing we can do is to ask and then

wait until God gives us something.

If we ask we will receive - and

ANYONE can hear from God; no

are.

Talk About It

God wants YOU!!!

1. He will speak to you NO MATTER what your history is or who you are.

Jesus was a Jew, and Jews almost NEVER spoke to Samaritans. And what

made it worse was that this Samaritan was a woman. Back in Jesus‘ day, the

Jewish teachers did not allow Jewish men to speak to women in public. By

speaking to this Samaritan woman, Jesus proved He was different! He didn‘t

care about labels the leaders put on people or any other rules they had, He

loved ALL people and wanted all people to be saved. He didn‘t care what

people would think.

2. NOTHING disqualifies you from God speaking to you.

-Jesus spoke to this woman regardless of who she was. It made no

difference to Him that she was a Samaritan woman. We are all equal in

God‘s site and nothing could ever make Him not want to speak to you. He

finds us worthy of His love no matter what we have or haven‘t done. He

values us enough to ACTIVELY seek us - think about it, HE went and found

the Samaritan woman! Even when we see no value or worth in our lives, God

does, and he wants to speak to us.

-Have you ever felt disqualified from God speaking to you? Why?

3. He wants to use YOU to speak to others on his behalf.

- Our testimony about Jesus is the most powerful tool we have to lead others

to believe in Jesus: ―Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him

because of the woman's testimony, ‗He told me everything I ever did.‘ So

when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he

stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers.

They said to the woman, ‗We no longer believe just because of what you

said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is

the Savior of the world‖‘

4. We need to be READY for GOD MOMENTS.

- The Samaritan woman was just going about her day like any other day;

there was nothing special or different about it… until Jesus met with her! It

was unexpected and yet Jesus used her to save her entire city! We need to

be ready for God to speak at any time - even during the routine of our every

day lives at school or at home or wherever.

Bottom Line: God wants to speak to you (for you &someone else)

Kickstart: Chat with the kids about the last curriculum (Mission Possible) and what

they learnt from it. Ask them what stood out to them and what they found interesting.

Ask them what God made stand out for them.

Activity Items Required

Ask God for words for each kid in your

group and write them on a piece of paper

beforehand. Fold each paper up and place

them into a packet or bowl. Go around your

group and have them each take one out.

(Have a few extra in case you have a big

group that week) Tell them that what‘s on

there is what God thinks of them. The aim

is for them to think about how God sees

them. He loves them and wants to use

them. They are special and they play a

massive role in His Kingdom.

Then…

Explain to them that God speaks to us and

Activity Items Required

Repeat the same activity as last

comfortable with the idea.

Explain that God can talk to us for

literally anyone if we just wait on

Him and listen to Him.

Pair them up, give them each a

blank piece of paper and have

them ask God to show them a

picture that He wants them to

show to their friend.

Maybe God wants to tell them

something; let them share that too

and maybe you can write it on the

How do we know it‘s God speaking to us?

LESSONS TO LEARN FROM ANANIAS… 1. His response when Jesus spoke was IMMEDIATE. 5. God was able to TRUST Ananias to go to Paul with a instruction from Him.

6. Even though Paul was seen as a dangerous man, Ananias was still

Talk About It

What makes Peter and John such a incredible men of God???

1. They knew that it was ONLY through the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT

that they were able to perform the miracle. When we get saved, this same

power is in us! (Acts 3:6)

2. The lame mans life CHANGED when he came into contact with Jesus.

Because of Peter and John‘s obedience to heal this man, he met with Jesus

and was changed from that moment on. He had experienced the power of

Jesus and would never be the same! In that ONE MOMENT his entire life

changed.

3. God wants to use US to serve and minister to others. As long as we desire

to be used by God, He will use us and He will instruct us when He needs to.

4. It was just an ORDINARY day and yet God did something extraordinary.

The lame man had no idea what was about to happen to him. It was just

another miserable day in his life, another day of suffering and begging and

hoping that someone would help him. Little did he know that Jesus wanted to

help him very much and would do something miraculous.

5. Peter and John were OBEDIENT and so God was able to use them to

heal the lame man.

6. Peter performed the miracle in GOD’S STRENGTH. There was no

possible way he could have done it on his own. But in this situation he was

able to represent Jesus so that Jesus could do what he wanted to in this

man‘s life.

7. When we SERVE OTHERS in the strength of Jesus, we will see amazing

things happen!

8. When Jesus does something to change someone‘s life, others see it too

and are ENCOURAGED. People see the work of Jesus and are amazed!!

The more we allow Jesus to use us, the more we can show Him to the world!

9. Everything we do needs to POINT TO JESUS so that He gets all the credit

and the glory!

Bible Story: Peter and John - Acts 3:1-10

Bottom Line: Gifts work in everyday life

Kickstart: Ask the kids if they‘ve been obedient when God has spoken to them?

Have they been scared to share something? Maybe some haven‘t heard from God yet;

chat with them about it and explain to them that we need to be listening as God‘s voice

is still and soft.

Activity Items Required

Have everyone in your group find their own

space but relatively close to each other.

Have them pray for people that they see

outside of Uptown - parents, siblings,

friends at school teachers, grand

parents… etc.

Tell them to ask God to show them

something to share with any one of these

people. They might have a prophetic word

for one of them or they may have for

many. It might even just be an

encouraging word they want to share with

someone.

Have them write it down on a piece of

paper so that they can share it with the

person during the week.

Make sure to ask them about it next week

and see how it went and how they felt after

sharing what God had show or told them.

Week 4 - (GR 0-1)

Memory Verse: ―My message and my preaching were not with wise and

persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit‘s power.‖ - 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

Bible Story: Peter and Cornelius - Acts 10:9-20

Bottom Line: Everything we do always points to Jesus

Kickstart: Chat with them about how they have discovered God‘s voice. Are they

wanting it so badly that they literally want to hear from Him all day everyday? Explain to

them that even though the series is coming to end, hearing from God never comes to

end and it‘s something that we need to be doing all the time! We need to always be

finding the treasure in others and learning to see them how God sees them.

Activity Items Required

Make a prayer circle

Select one person in your group to

sit in the middle while everyone else

around them prays for them and

asks God to give them something for

that person.

Have them share it with this person

and write the prophetic words and

pictures on a piece of paper so they

can take it home with them.

Also ask the kid in the middle if they

have any prayer requests that the

rest of your group can pray into

specifically

Talk About It

What can we learn from the story of Peter???

God gives Peter a VISION

>WE NEED TO HAVE A VISION TOO!

What do you think it means to have a vision?

-It‘s like having a dream! In a dream, anything is possible! Dreams are

always cooler than in real life and crazy things happen that don‘t always

make sense to us?

-Have you ever woken up from a dream in the middle of the night or even in

the morning and had no idea what it was about??

-Sometimes we sit day dreaming… we think about all the things we could be

doing than what we are really doing at the time.

In the same we need to be dreaming big things for Jesus!!

What does this mean??

-God wants us to be on mission for Him! He wants us to be dreaming about

how we can show everyone around us who He is so that they can experience

His love too!

Who do you think needs to know Jesus‘ love? (Families, friends, teachers,

brothers, sisters, even our friends here at Uptown...)

-We need to always remind ourselves that nothing is impossible with God.

Even when things look difficult and we think there is no way we can do it, we

need to remember how BIG our God is!

How do we hear from Jesus?

-We make time just for Jesus! We find a quiet place where it‘s just us and

Jesus and no one else and ask Him to give us visions and dreams!

-He will put things in our day where we are able to see these dreams become

more than just an idea in our head! Maybe he gives us a friend to tell about

Jesus or maybe He gives us a sick teacher who we are able to pray for! We

need to be on the look out for all these things!

Talk About It

First of all… Jews and Gentiles DID NOT mix. The Gentiles were seen as

being unclean and not holy like the Jews were. Jews had nothing to do with

the Gentiles until here in Acts 10 where God uses Peter to bring salvation to

the Gentiles. God gives Peter a new understanding and a heart for the gentiles

- HE GIVES PETER A VISION

>WE NEED TO HAVE A VISION TOO. God desires to give us vision for our

lives, our families, our ministries, and our country.

BUT HOW???

1. WE NEED TO SET QUIET TIMES ASIDE TO SPEND WITH GOD. ―The

next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went

up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray‖ -Acts 10:9

In Bible times, housetops were used to get away from the crowds and the

busyness of the city. Peter went to the housetop for some quiet time where he

could pray to God.

God is able to give us VISION so much more when we spend time in quiet with

him when there are no other distractions.

2. GOD USES ORDINARY EVERYDAY THINGS TO GIVE US VISION AND

TO TEACH US LESSONS.

Peter was an ordinary human just like us and so he definitely wasn‘t perfect -

he was the guy who fell asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus

asked him to stay awake and pray with Him.

God used food in Peter‘s vision to show him what He wanted him to do. He

used the food as an example of what the Jews saw as being clean and

unclean and He said that it did not matter - this was preparing him to go to the

gentiles - who were seen as unclean - and preach the Gospel to them.

3. GOD WILL CONFIRM THE VISIONS HE GIVES US SO WE CAN BE

CERTAIN OF WHAT HE WANTS US TO DO.

While Peter was thinking about the vision he had just seen, the Spirit told him

there were three men at his door who were there to see him. God had spoken

to Cornelius to send them and He spoke to Peter to tell him they were there.

This was confirmation that both men had heard God correctly.
