Machine- a device that makes work easier by changing the direction or size of the force.
Work- Force move an object in the direction of the Force
Work = Force x Distance
Work input- Work done on a machine.
Work output- Work done by the machine.
Mechanical Advantage (M.A.)- number of times a machine multiplies the force input to it.
Mechanical Efficiency – Ratio of work output divided by work input.

Incline Plane- A straight slanted Surface.
M.A. of an incline plane-
length of incline divided by the height object is raised
Screw- an incline plane (straight angled surface) wrapped around a cylinder.
Wedge- two inclined planes.
Lever- a bar that pivot around a fixed point.
Fulcrum- the fixed point in which a lever pivots around.
Input arm- the distance from the fulcrum to the input force.
Output arm- the distance from the fulcrum to the output force (load).
Load- Object being moved.
Wheel & Axle- 2 circular objects of different sizes
M.A. of a Wheel & Axle-Radius of the WheelRadius of the axle
Pulley- grooved wheel with a rope around it.
M.A. of pulley- count the number of rope segments. (-1 if it has a fixed pulley)
