    Dear Parents,

Today marks the end of the first three weeks of school. Unfortunately it has not been without disruption. As you kwe lost two days to floods in the first week of school and then another day last Monday to Presidential decree.contribute to even more time at home, we have National Heroes day this coming Monday and thus another lweekend. In planning the school calendar we had planned 181 school days this year. We will reclaim Monday Januaras a school day and so the net loss to date is two days. Should we lose even more valuable HS instructional time we mneed to be even more creative, but let s hope we can now sett le int o the rhyt hm t hat is business as usual in t he hschool at ISM

Even wit h disruptions we have st ill been busy, w it h College night, IB Informat ion meet ings, student leadership t rainthe Island Cove Resort, HS play auditions and rehearsals and our full range of athletic endeavors have begun with gamversus Faith last Friday and the Brent Lions tonight!

High School enrolment is st rong and continues to grow each day. We now have 757 students in cl asses. Unfort unately growt h has peaked in one or t wo subject areas and thus while not want ing to disrupt any st udent schedules, we have hto make some slight adjustments to balance classes.

The next BIG date on the calendar for parents will be theHigh School Open House to be held on Tuesday, August 28thIt is always a highlight t o bring the parent s t o school for t he evening and to let t hem t he wander t he hallways lookinthe right class! I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. I have asked the teachers to go easy on lateness

    t he classes that night!

Another important date on the HS calendar is Wednesday, August 29. This is when we launch our HS club program Club Expo. It is the opport unit y f or all HS st udents to view di splays and present ations from t he vast array of HS Cluborganizations and to sign up for membership. It is important to remember that students should not overload thschedule and that when they do sign up for a c lub; t hey in fact turn up and fol low t hrough on their commit ment t oorganization.

While talking about commitment, on Saturday, Sept 3r d we w ill have our entir e senior IB Diploma bat ch working fr o5pm on their Extended Essays, ably supported by teachers volunteering their Saturday morning. This is a crucomponent of the IB Diploma and I want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the students, the teachers Mr. Mike Relf, our new, equally hardworki ng IB Coordinator!

I hope t o meet as many of you as possibl e at HS Open House.

    Kind Regards,
