    Community Welcome

    Opening Prayer

Presider: God of Abraham and Sarah, of David and his descendants, unwea-ried is your love for us and steadfast your covenant; wonderful beyond words is your gift of the Savior, born of the Virgin Mary. Count us among the people in whom you delight, and by this night’s marriage of earth and heaven draw all generations into the embrace of your love. We ask this through Jesus Christ, your Word made flesh, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, in the splendor of eternal light, one God for ever and ever. Amen

    Opening Song

  • Liturgy of the Word

    First Reading: Isaiah 9:1-6

    Sacred Song: O Holy Night

    Second Reading: Titus 2: 11-14

    Gospel: Luke 2:1-14

We break open the Word together, although no one should feel obligated to speak unless they are comfort-able doing so.

Prayers of the Faithful Our response is Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

    Prayer of Reconciliation

Gracious God, we would like to be among those who saw the coming of the Christ Child, those who dropped all that they were doing and traveled to worship the coming of God's love into this world. We would like to be those who cared for God in infant vulnerability; who tickled and cuddled and comforted the growing child, that he might know love and safety. And yet, merciful God, we must recognize all the times we are more like Herod. Whenever we, in our actions or in our inactions, find our own need for control more compelling than the needs of others for health and safety. Whenever we cling to the security of our privilege, rather than standing up for the rights of the oppressed. Whenever we are complicit in the harming of innocents for the sake of profit, or power, or because we fear to know, and to change, the injustices of this world. Loving God,nwe confess our sins against you and one another, and pray that you will fill us with your light, that we may live our lives as true disciples in your name, without counting the cost. In the name of Christ, the one who showed us the way, we pray. May the Lord have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.

  • Offertory

    Presentation of the Gifts

Presider: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this bread to offer,

which earth has given and human hands have made. It will become for us the bread of life. Blessed be

    God forever.

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine

and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink. Blessed be God for ever.

Pray, my brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God, the almighty and holy One. May the Lord accept the sacrifice at our hands, for the praise and glory of God’s name, for our good, and the good of all the Church.

    Prayer of Thanksgiving

Presider: The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise Presider: Blessed are you, Breath of peace… praise: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Presider: ...He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: Take this, all of you, and eat it: This is my body which will be given up for you. When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: Take this all of you and drink from it. This is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiv-en. Do this in memory of me. Let us proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again!

Presider: Send your Spirit to fill us … For it is through Christ, with Christ and in Christ, in the uni-ty of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours almighty God, forever and ever, Amen.

Presider: Send your Spirit to fill us … For it is through Christ, with Christ and in Christ, in the uni-ty of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours almighty God, forever and ever, Amen.

  • Prayer of Thanksgiving (cont.)

Let us pray for the coming of the fullness of God’s reign on earth, as Jesus taught us: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, now and forever, Amen. Bless those today who persevere in faith and hope, and reveal to each of us our purpose in the fulfillment of your kingdom. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace. Presider: This is the table of the Lord. It is made ready... For this is the bread of life and the cup of salvation: And we, though many, are one body, for we all share in the one bread and in the one cup. Amen.

    Prayer After Communion

When the song of the angels is stilled, when the star in the sky is gone, when the kings and princes are home, when the shepherds are back with the flocks, then the work of Christmas begins: To find the lost, to heal those broken in spirit, to feed the hungry, to release the oppressed, to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among all peoples, to make a little music with the heart. And to radiate the Light of Christ, every day, in every way, in all that we do and in all that we say. Then the work of Christmas begins. –Howard Thurman

Final Blessing The Lord be with you. And also with you. May Almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son + and the Holy Spirit. Amen Go in Peace to love and serve the Lord. Thanks be to God.
